I believe it’s been alluded to several times in the Classic series but I think a story involving The Doctor meeting Hans Christian Andersen could be good fun. The First Doctor and a fairytale setting seem to go hand in hand after all. Ooh that could be a really interesting one as either a pure historical or maybe they could he the the Doctor and Hans Christian Anderson encounter various characters from his works🤔😊 Anderson was a really fascinating person with a very sad life in many areas. I don’t know why I would love to have the Doctor and Anderson either encounter a real mermaid similar to the version from the much darker original fairytale or perhaps have the two of them trying to save a real life version of the little match girl by letting her stay inside the TARDIS.

You could probably do something with the Magic Mirror from the Snow Queen if you did an Andersen story. Depending on which version you read, it was built by The Devil or a troll or hobgoblin which could distort the good and amplify the wickedness in whoever looked at it. Give it a science fiction lick of paint and you’ve got a story there somewhere.

I’ve always thought it would be really interesting to something with the Doctor and their reflection in the mirror, particularly if it was in a hall of mirrors of some kind 🤔

So I imagine he would probably see a glimpse of the Valeyard or The War Doctor. Who knows what Mr Andersen would see though.

A few more: This would most likely have to be a BF but what about a story told from the Master’s (or Missy’s) point of view that’s an homage of kind hearts and coronets where they try to kill all the past incarnations of the Doctor in various black comedy ways!
A retelling of the phantom of the opera, where it turns out the phantom is from another planet!
A reverse cybermen story where the Doctor comes across a commune of former cybermen who figured out a way to de program themselves and slowly become more human again. Even artificially giving themselves more human appearances! I imagine that they would live in some sort idealized village that almost seems to perfect. The Doctor would be conflicted with trusting the commune and being suspicious.

The original (maybe ) is in a museum not 40km away from where I live (Lohr am Main), so there could be a story done of my region of Germany! I am even willing to show any author around for research if they would ask me...

It is just that legend says that this is the magic mirror.... reason, the town was famous in the old days for making mirrors and having an industry there and the Brother's Grimm just lived around the corner.

It's a pretty interesting premise. Particularly if we go the "created by the Devil" route of its origins in the context of Doctor Who. What would an amoral and unsentimental Daemon need with a mirror that amplified the wickedness in whatever it reflected?

In the context of Earth being one grand experiment, it would be a useful way to adjust variables by remote without direct interference. Imagine if every mirror in the world could be like that and it's only this one that got stuck in this "setting".

Imagine if every mirror in the world could be like that and it's only this one that got stuck in this "setting". Really like that idea. You don’t even have to include a Daemon at all. Just infer that it was one of their artefacts that had been left behind. In the original tale, the mirror shattered into pieces and it was scattered across the globe. I could imagine the Doctor managing to destroy it and Andersen expressing concern that even in pieces it could still work its spell on people and ignite the worst in humanity. The Doctor would reluctantly state that’s its very possible that when shattered the mirror would be completely deactivated and it’s spell broken. Andersen would ask if he’s certain of that and the Doctor would not offer a response. Ending the tale on a melancholy and ambiguous note.

The Doctor and a companion entering a dance contest for the fate of the universe! Imagine the campiness, imagine the dance moves, imagine the dance costumes! Not sure what combination of Doctor/ companion would be best but it would be hilarious 😁
This would be for BF but “freaky Friday” between 1 and Susan, because it would be a very interesting dynamic!
I don’t know why but the Doctor temporarily getting turned into a stuffed toy that constantly leaks stuffing and loosing limbs but still trying to be intimidating and defeat the villain while unintentionally coming across as adorable😁
A homage to the karate kid where the Doctor teaches a bullied kid how to do Venusian Akido by having them help repair the TARDIS, not sure what Doctor I would want for this but it would be awesome 😀

The Freaky Friday flip with the Doctor and Susan having to negotiate their temporary roles with a regular Ian and Barbara would be terrific ground for storytelling. The stuffed toy idea is almost like a bit of Gothic Wimsey: A homage to the karate kid where the Doctor teaches a bullied kid how to do Venusian Akido by having them help repair the TARDIS, not sure what Doctor I would want for this but it would be awesome 😀 I can see the Third Doctor for this. Maybe waiting to pick up Jo, if it's on earth, or taking a "pit stop" because a circuit's misaligned. It'd make a nice Short Trip.

I was surprised in Journey's End that RTD didn't give us a comedy scene of the 3 mothers (Jackie, Martha's mum and Sylvia) meeting over a cup of tea to compare notes. Watching it first time round, I was sure it was going to happen at some point

A mindscrew story where the Doctor wakes up suddenly in a strange hospital bed to be told all their adventures were dreams that they had while they were in a coma, and they are actually just an ordinary human named John (or Joan depending on which incarnation this is) Smith and it’s time to get back to normal life. All the people John Smith knows are played by actors from modern and classic Who (and some BF as well) such as past companions, and Masters, and other villains. John Smith has a spouse and kids and a slightly dull job. John (or Joan) spends time grappling with everything that happened being a dream but is also kind of happy with having a family and that people they thought were long dead and gone or turned evil are actually just their family, friends, neighbors and colleagues. But as John(or Joan) Smith try to get adjusted back to normal life they keep seeing odd glitches in reality and flashes of the people in their life as they were in their “dreams” as well as distress calls and whispers for them to wake up. John (or Joan) then becomes desperate trying to get back to their life as the Doctor. I think this could be a really interesting storyline I am surprised they have never tried, that could be really clever for either tv who or BF to tackle!
Side note I think we need more stories where the Doctor experiences temporary transformations because they are very good opportunities for character development and exploration!

Continuing on the theme of storytellers, I’m honestly surprised they haven’t done anything with Aesop yet. You could do a straight forward historical and morality tale within the confines of a Short Trip for example.

I know they’ve already provided an explanation for the Pied Piper of Hamelin but I’m imagining you could do a compelling story with the Children’s Crusade. en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Children's_Crusade Picturing this as a potential Sixth Doctor and Peri myself.
