Leftie feminist comic...none of those 3 qualities are issues at all - remotely. In fact at least 2 of them would be net positives to be on a show like Who. An unconvincing actor, woefully miscast? Quite another issue.

To be fair I don’t think we’ve seen enough with her in it to know how miscast she is in the role. Those videos are terrible and she’s not good in them but to I don’t know how many actors would exactly thrive in those.
I think it was a big mistake not having an audio with her as one of the first hours so her performance would inform reading her stories. Instead the audio material comes so late I don’t feel I can even gauge whether it’s worth it to me until I hear reviews of the Big Finish which is the next to last set.
So many strange choices made for this event, I really don’t get it.

Yeah Audios should have been the bookends of the story

I'm not sure there's a good way to bookend these sort of affairs. This SEEMS to be aimed at kids...but how many kids pay £30 for audios? It should be a story, a la Timelord Victorious, not a box. Surely part of the idea of it is to get people into the different mediums?
I...no. Just from start to finish this seems to be baffling verging on nonsensical.

Yeah, as much as I'm finding Doom's Day as a whole tolerable-enough, I do agree that it might have benefited from having one of the audios (or a full 'proper' video-project) at or near the start...
In regards to the book, 'Extraction Point', whilst I will say that it's not something I might strictly read regularly? Yeah, it was a pretty fun 'little' read, and I certainly appreciate the fact that it had a full arc to it, rather than continuing the trend of "here's a story with x character!"...

I liked Extraction Point. It was good to give Doom four missions, but with an overall story running through. Gives the story opportunity to breathe and reduces the fleeting, slight nature of some of the previous instalments. I thought Nine was very well characterised, albeit brief, and I liked the even briefer appearance from the Second Doctor. I’m not sure either warranted being on the cover, mind, but naturally any Doctor involvement is a selling point.
Whilst I think she fares much better in prose than the videos, I’m not sure I have a massive understanding of who Doom is. Anything we get in Extraction Point is less development for her specifically and more background for the Lesser Order of Oberon. It’s nice detail, but doesn’t help in the grand scheme of Doom’s Day. And for this supposed great assassin, she’s doing very little of it, as referenced within the book itself.
The audios will be the highlight if Sooz can pull it off. For the fact they should be in real time, if nothing else.

Compared to the first Doom's Day level, this was {Spoiler} Quite a bit darker as it eventuates Not sure if other stories in series are like that, as only exposure so far to Doom

The other stories aren’t like that so far, so this was a pleasant surprise. Just a shame about the storytelling restrictions Lost in Time poses on it.

Whilst I will say that I did very much enjoy the BBC Audios... Audios, I am slightly glad that (with the possible exception of the 12th Doctor story, and possibly Brian's) they were 'only' about half-an-hour each, so they were straight to the point, fun adventures, and didn't necessarily "overstay" their welcome.
I'm getting paid tomorrow, so as I did an afternoon's overtime to 'cover it', I'll be pre-ordering the Big Finish contribution.
For whatever reason, my copy of part 2 of the Titan Comic comic was (finally) dispatched today... About a month after it was first released. A cynic would say that "it's about time".

I thought Four from Doom's Day was a mixed bag. The opening story with Ian & Barbara was offbeat and fun enough. I thought the Ice Warrior one really grated with so much interaction between Ice Warriors. I didn't like that they broke the rules and had Doom overrun; the concept is woolly as it is, so don't try bending it at this point! I really liked the third instalment, Brian the Ood is good value, Silas Carson is a wonderful reader and it's a story that conjures some great imagery. And the last one with Twelve felt very slight; I don't think it got across the Doctor's manipulation very well at all - Doom herself mentions it's part of the job and then they move on. I wasn't keen on Sooz's reading either and she missed the opportunity to inject some life into Doom.
I liked Extraction Point because it had an overall story running through that helped alleviate the slight nature of each mission being an hour. And I was hoping Four from Doom's Day would be similar and would finally give us more insight into Doom, but it doesn't at all. We still don't really have any indication which incarnation that Doom is after and we know nothing more than what was established in the first hour, which was given away for nowt!

Is there still no word on Doom's last hour?
I'm beginning to think that something's going on here - either they're having to rewrite it because of the disappointing reaction from the audience, or a bigger-than-anticipated ending (i.e. a minisode, perhaps for Children in Need) is planned... or perhaps they just gave up?
