Now, you might look at all this and think, even after all their blunders, 'well, the studios surely have loads of new things banked up, so they can outlast the strike, as they keep insisting they can'.
Just reruns and reality TV. It's like they really think they can make the 2007 strike plan work this time (spoilers: it was an abject disaster in ratings).

The strike will affect Australia too - it has to be done so good on them.

Just to reiterate, the studios 'have loads of new things banked up'.

Well, well, well.
Basically, this is confirming the open secret - they put money into AI.

This is great news:
Animation writers are not covered by the guild and don't get residuals or much if any protections.

This is great news: Animation writers are not covered by the guild and don't get residuals or much if any protections. That's fantastic! My son is in school for animation and screen writing and plans to join the picket line in NYC on Monday.

Seems studios want to sit down. They also announced this for SAG too.

For historical context/comparison, in the 07 strike the first return was just the studios repeating the same crap offer. Why? For messaging, to make the guild seem unreasonable.
With the way they've behaved, I wouldn't be shocked if they do this again, or reheat the DGA contract.

And sure enough, it's a stalemate.

Throughout we've seen other unions offer solidarity, whether through messages or even with certain types of action. Given Hollywood is so influential in how other entertainment industries conduct themselves, the potential for dominoes is huge.
And one may be about to topple in South Korea with their actors.

Since When? Individuals in the UK can support it as is their choice but equally they can and should be able to accept and promote the work. The longer this goes on the more all parties risk Alienating the Audience (which let's face it is where the Money starts ) Regards mark687

That strikes me as someone in SAGAFTA not realising Who is a UK based, UK financed production with the House of Mouse only involved in international distribution.

Also no Equity actor in the UK is prevented from accepting jobs and working in the UK, the only point where it matters is if go to the States to work as a scab

2nd Longest Strike in history of the Organizations and all because 1 company would rather waste millions on a Tax Challenge they know they'll win rather than fund smallish wage increases and fair disbursement on money and time between real people and AI

That’s it, it’s over. SAG is allowing work to resume on AMC productions because arrangements have been made. Once work starts in one place, other places will rush to make “arrangements”. Once SAG leaves the picket line the writers lose their best ally and the only thing that attracts media attention, and the only thing that might make the companies move is media attention, actor tweets etc are the only thing contradicting the compliant media line of “greedy, lazy writers…” so without the actors the writers are doomed to lose public support.
