Bang Bang a Boom. Say what you like, but I think this is quite fun. Even that cheesy scene where the alien Valkyrie is trying to date rape 7. It is just deliberately and unashamedly over the top.

I always preferred the One Doctor personally, but there are some good moments in Bang Bang a Boom ๐ค๐ Yes, the One Doctor is better. No doubt. But this one has one of Sylvesters better performances and he is really good in this playing the confused clown. And I can just vividly imagine the Valkyrie seducing him. The whole thing just perfectly fits to Sylvester. I always feel reminded of his life performances at the convention where he does all kinds of shenanigans hobbling through the audience, climbing over people, playing a total fool and being a very intelligent and witty man the next. He is great, and he takes time for some bantering with everyone, even if he has a loooong queue. Totally fell in love with him.
Sadly he can be a bit hit and miss in Big Finish.

Phobos
This is the least interesting EDA I've sat through yet. I was bored enough that a 50 minute story took three sittings over the course of almost a week to get through it. It's basically a Scooby Doo sort of plot - which the story itself comments on. I do like me a snowy setting, and I don't think extreme sports stuff is necessarily a terrible idea. However, none of it really adds up to much of anything. I don't think I'd categorize it as awful, but it's on the low end of acceptable. It's a paper-thin tale with a forgettable cast of characters. What's-his-face the American snowboarder I think bugs me the most. He's a great example of why so many of BF's "American" characters feel off, it's not so much the accent, it's the writing. They still use Britishisms like "winding you up" or "lift" instead of elevator or "loads" instead of "lots" and so forth. It sounds completely wrong coming from the mouth of someone on my side of the ocean. Regional idiom is not easy - I don't think I could write a realistic sounding Welshman, for example - but there's some obvious things you can at least try to be mindful of. Lastly there's the damn Headhunter, which I was curious about up until now, but her little cameo in this story is just...disappointing, let's say. Worse still she seems to have come down with an infection of that Whedon-style "quirky" dialogue, which combined with her misfortune really deflate any mystique the character had. {Spoiler} So what's the count up to for ethereal beings that feed on fear, now? This one might have a few extra quirks but we've seen this sort of thing about fifty thousand times in Doctor Who already.

I haven't listened to a lot of their material so I don't really know. And Barrowman, like Terry Gilliam, has been in the UK for so long, he's probably not a reliable font of American wisdom anymore.

Finished revisiting of Missy Series 1
The Broken Clockโs meta storytelling is still incredibly confusing but in an enjoyable way and The Belly of the Beast ties everything up rather neatly, whilst demonstrating Missyโs more malevolent side.

Finished Jago & Litefoot Series 8 today. Very enjoyable, Scorchies and all. I hated the Scorchies Companion Chronicle so I wasn't particularly looking forward to more Scorchies, but Encore of the Scorchies was very cute. The songs were well written and performed and quite amusing. So much better than "Jo is making a thing." The Backward Men was an interesting story, and I really liked Jago & Litefoot & Patsy. My iPod battery ran out in the middle of Jago & Litefoot Series 9, so I'll have to finish listening to it another day.

Ahh Evelyn was so good. She was such a terrific foil to Colin's Doctor, they worked so very well together. Doctor Who: Ravenous 2 for me today! Just done revisiting Doctor Who: Ravenous 3And now done revisiting Doctor Who: Ravenous 4, finishing off my pre-Stranded McGann boxset revisit. Onward to Stranded tomorrow!

Gonna take a break from work to do some weights in the basement. Think I'll give The Outliers a relisten. (F.Hines)

I finished Three's a Crowd (again, and it was ok, again) and I've no idea why but I fancy another listen to the often maligned...

Debating on giving one of the Target novelisation audio books go. Does anyone have suggestions or recommendations on which one I should start with?

Debating on giving one of the Target novelisation audio books go. Does anyone have suggestions or recommendations on which one I should start with? The Time Meddler is still my favourite of the few that I have listened to, but I can also suggest Twice Upon a Time or The Day of the Doctor if you want some Modern Who Target.

Debating on giving one of the Target novelisation audio books go. Does anyone have suggestions or recommendations on which one I should start with? My personal favourite Targets so far (although I've not read that many) have been Doctor Who and the Auton Invasion and Rose. They would fit together nicely as a double feature, as well! (Haven't heard the audio versions though - but Caroline John and Camille Coduri are both readers I could listen to for a long stretch.) EDIT: Forgot why I came to this thread, haha: re-listening to Auld Mortality right now and had to come and gush about how dang great it is. An alternate universe prequel/sequel to Lungbarrow from Marc Platt himself. The highlight of the Unbound range IMO, helped by the fact that "the Doctor stayed on Gallifrey" really is the most obvious of the What Ifs!

The Auton Invasion is one of the few audiobooks I have heard and it is definitely worth a listen. Caroline John was a great narrator and the post production work on the story is really good.
