Jago & Litefoot Vol 5
I love that theme and the inclusion of a new(sort of) Det. Sgt. to give this set the air of a cross-over between J&L and one of the classic 60s semi-fantasy crime/thriller series - groovy, baby!
6.1 The Age of Revolution
Starts very well but becomes a sort of anti-'Adam Adamant Lives!' A very strange idea imo to have a story which places two much-loved Victorian characters in the modern world and then spends quite so much of its time saying there was nothing good about the time they came from. Not that things didn't need to change and improve (which is true of every age) but that there was nothing good until the wonderful "decade zero" of the 1960s. When J&L disprove the notion merely by existing and being such valiant validators of varied Victorian virtues!
But apart from free universal education to age 14, votes for all men (though only men until the 1920s, but it was a big step up on the 'rotten boroughs' where it was only a few rich landowners), railways trams and buses so ordinary people could finally afford to move around their towns and cities and country, trades-unions, public 'Bank' holidays and limits on working hours, clean water and sanitation and major improvements in public health and medical care, liberalising reforms to criminal justice, massively increased (if very uneven) prosperity and the resulting huge growth of the middle-classes - what, by the time of J&L (and my great-grandparents) around 1890, had the Victorians actually done?

Ah, you forgot the aqueducts.
I've got a new (18 year old) car, and I'm loving razzing about in it whilst listening to BF CDs, and the latest is Tomb Ship.

Renaissance of the Daleks (Based on an idea by Christopher H. Business)
Thought I’d give this another re appraisal. But nope, it’s still a mess.

And You Will Obey Me (Alan Barnes)
This one is a great deal of fun. And Alan Barnes’s history with the comic book format shines through with this one.

Finished a relisten to MR: The Dispossessed. It is above average and has a great ending that feeds nicely in to the next story, but it really does suffer a bit from Sylv (probably my favourite Doctor) having one of his poorer readings, the delivery is all over the place.

Lurkers at Sunlight’s Edge (Marty Ross)
Quite underrated in my humble opinion.

Lurkers at Sunlight’s Edge (Marty Ross) Quite underrated in my humble opinion. Is it a slow starter? I tried to listen again yesterday myself as it's one I've not heard often and barely remember, and I ended up bagging it because it didn't seem like it was going anywhere. Probably got good about a minute after I gave up, lol. Another listen for The Transit of Venus from the Companion Chronicles. Very good, IMHO. I think I need to give more Companion Chronicles another listen.

It’s definitely a slow start but once things get into full swing it’s a very entertaining piece and probably one of the better Lovecraft homages out there.

Treasure Island (Robert Louis Stevenson)
Adapted by Barnaby Edwards. Tom Baker makes for a fantastic Long Silver. Then again, it should only be expected at this point.

Domain of the Voord.
Still my favourite release from this series. It could have been plucked straight from the Sixties.
