More re-listens for the Sixth Doctor and Eight Doctor with The Trial of the Valeyard and Shada. Which is the bigger treat, Michael Jayston and Lynda Bellingham, or a generous dose of Paul and Lalla? Thankfully no one needs to try answer that very difficult question when they can just listen to both. :-)

Return of the Krotons (Nicholas Briggs)
Finally, a story which does the Krotons justice. Would love to see them in a full length story sometime down the line.

Just listened to The Third Wise Man, one of the short stories from the Twelve Angels Weeping anthology. I thought it was good, it’s nice to get more War Doctor & General content, it’s wonderfully descriptive and I think it really runs with the fact the Time War isn’t linear and is constantly chopping and changing.
Shame it wasn’t read by Ken Bones actually, as it’s very much the General’s story.

Retail Therapy (James Goss)
A cracking story. And you know, I honestly don’t mind Nicholas Briggs’s take on the Ninth Doctor. And wouldn’t say no to another volume of the Ninth Doctor Chronicles.

The Kingdom of the Blind (Jacqueline Rayner)
A very effective use of the Monoids. Now that I think about it, it’s probably the only story you could do with the Monoids bar making a direct sequel to The Ark. Maybe I’m just particularly unimaginative though.

B7: Drones A wounded Liberator hides at the bottom of the ocean as Blake makes contact with a rebel group on Straxis, the federation battle training planet. But a new weapon is being tested, robotic 'fleas' that infect their victim will a slow-burn incendiary virus. Love this 1st series.

Enemy Aliens (Alan Barnes)
A fun little homage to The Thirty-Nine Steps and other adventure stories of yesteryear.

Dracula's Guests.
I found this to be a strong opener leading into some interesting directions for the Count. Still not sure about Dracula's War though ...
There was a suggestion that Big Finish might further explore Dracula's world, but it seems as if that might have been a false hope. Shame.

BBV's Punchline (an odd unofficial 7th Doctor Story from Rob Shearman using a pseudonym) Ironically, it’s probably one of the best Doctor Who stories ever.

Relistening the Sixth Doctor & Peri box set from last year to give it a second chance, as I thought it was a bit meh originally. - The Headless Ones and Like lack subtlety, which really bothered me. Kinda disappointed about Like in particular, since Jacqueline Rayner penned this one, and she's usually one of the best writers for Six, with Nev Fountain and Chris Chapman. - The Vanity Trap on the other hand is really enjoyable due to its creepy atmosphere, some parts in the last half hour are genuinely disturbing.
Onto Conflict Theory from Nev Fountain, one I remember not finding that great on my first listen.

Listening to The Game as part of the MR listen thru. I will probably start on Dreamtime later today, although I'm not excited to re-listen to that story.
What has excited me this week are the DW adjacent things I've been listening to. The audiobook of I Love The Bones Of You, the Chris Eccleston autobiography which is read by him. The truth and rawness of the narrative are palpable. At times he sounds almost amateurish, the truth of the story being so real that in order to get through it he needs to keep the emotion out at times. At other times you can really hear how the things that happened to him affected him through his voice. His chapters regarding DW are lovely, and you get a sense of 1)why he stayed away so long and 2) why he's so joyful about being back.
And I've been listening to the interviews on the podcast, The Sirens of Audio. The John Dorney 2-parter and Lisa Barrowman ones are the best so far.

Finished "This is Colin Baker" today. I enjoyed this extended interview, but it seemed to run out of steam once they reached Colin's time as the Doctor on tv.
