Finished 10th Doctor/ Classic companions. Fun, but nothing really special.
Started on 9th Doctor Into the Stars with Salvation Nine. OMG. This was absolutely stunning, and near perfectly crafted. Great writing. Great acting. THIS is what I am looking for in stories!

Enemy of the Daleks.
I often go back and revisit this one. I love it. The Daleks simply do what they do, unknowing and uncaring about the consequences. This story deals with the effects of their endless onslaughts, and by the time it's finished you know you've listened to something very bleak indeed. The sound design and as grim, down and dirty as Doctor Who has ever sounded, and it really sells the idea of needless death, mayhem and destruction. The humans' answer to the onslaught is even more grisly, and the Doctor's on hand to steer things in a certain direction. Everyone's great in this, Hex and Ace are embarking on a very interesting 'partnership' and the Seventh Doctor is as dark as ever.

I think I will have another go at 9th Doctor Ravagers. I never finished it when it came out because I was just not "feeling" it. Will give it another chance.

I always wonder whether the Daleks in this would have fared better against this new threat had they been of the later Time War model...

Ah, the monthly range. How I miss it. I remember thinking when it folded, that in years to come I might find myself revisiting a few. But just the old favorites, eh? Like Serpent in the Silver Mask, which is even better with a revisit, because you have some idea of the rich and eccentric world you are entering. The planet Argentia always affirmed the kind of giallo pastiche the story's title seemed to promise - I would love the genre to be given a more serious Doctor Who treratment one day, but this is a glorious 'romp'. Over the top? Yes, but most giallo films were (and I say that as a fan). The cast absolutely buy into it, and dish out some truly exquisite performances, especially Samuel West as the entire Mazzini family (his scenes with The Fifth Doctor are pure gold). One of the best latter day main-range tales.
A tiny word about the new classic Doctor box-sets and their (in my view) struggle to maintain the wonder of the monthly range: the recent Forty 2 seems an ideal template for future tales. Make 'em six-parters. Make the classic Doctor stories event listening again - that's my wish. Six parters never really featured with Docs 5,6 and 7 on television, but two parters were pretty rare too. Six parters would be my choice for the future.

The Lady of Mercia, it’s Paul Magrs doing something straight instead of comedy plus history so it’s a lot of fun. While a period of history I’m unfamiliar with there’s really a lot to enjoy here with all the character interactions.

Today’s listening is as follows
War Master: The Master’ Dalek Plan The Prisoner: Project Six Dorian Gray: Isolation Short Trips Vol 2: Chain Reaction Short Trips Rarities: Only Connect Bernice Summerfield: Closure
I’m hoping to squeeze in Deleted Scenes as well today after watching the Seeds of Doom.
One day, perhaps one day, I’ll not mix up seeds of doom/seeds of death.

A replay of The Robots, starting with volume one.. ..because volumes four and five have been in the backlog for a few months now and try as I might I'm damned if I can remember much detail about the first three.. 🤦♂️ All my good intentions went right out the window in the last week...only now getting round to the relisten of Volume two.

Re-listen to the first story of River Song New Recruit. Contemplating skipping the second one, since I HATED it last time, because of the complete and utter mess they made of it. But at least the first story is nicely creepy and mysterious and has good chemistry between the leads.
