I'd like to see the Doctor meet a U.S. First Lady. Frances Folsom Cleveland could be interesting?

Not a political figure persay, but Teddy Roosevelt's daughter Alice Lee would make an interesting one off companion, especially paired up with the more conservative Doctors like One or Three

I'd side with the Daleks on that one if we're being honest.

I'm no fan of Trump, but can we please leave our politics at the door? If I want to read about the U.S. Presidential Election, I read the newspaper. I come here to talk with people I like about things I like.
Anyhow...
Teddy Roosevelt's an obvious choice, an historical figure who could rival the Doctor for eccentricity, knowledge, and wanderlust.
Andrew Jackson could be interesting. I doubt he'd get along with the Doctor.
Quite a few of the Founding Fathers could propel a story. I'd say Benjamin Franklin, but he's already been done. How about John Adams? Alexander Hamilton?

Hamilton would be an obvious choice, what with an extremely successful Broadway musical selling out months in advance and the man being interesting in his own right.

Kind of a political figure, but from what I've read about his life, Mark Twain would be fascinating.

Teddy Roosevelt would be my first choice. Astonishing life.

Just the other day I was thinking how much American history I've picked up through osmosis and I'm not even anywhere near the United States. I've always thought that one day they should have a Peri story set during the Boston rebellion. Samuel Adams might be an interesting character, I'd love to see a Doctor meet Sitting Bull.

Ever since I started thinking about DW again I've kind of wanted to hear a story with Three and Thomas Jefferson, still no idea why exactly (the lack of Third Doctor historicals is probably part of that since Three and anyone historical usually sounds good too). Lots of good suggestions that people have made in this thread, I think.

Hmm... Hard to say. I agree with the comments about the Roosevelts - that would definitely be interesting to see - and it wouldn't be as stereotypical as, say, a story where the Doctor meets up with the Founding Fathers - though, that being said, I think I'd like to see a story with Washington set before his presidency.
The period I'm most interested in seeing explored is the American Civil War and the time period around that. Maybe the Doctor gets into a moral debate with Robert E. Lee on the battlefield, or maybe he shares an adventure with a prominent leader of the abolition movement like William Lloyd Garrison or Harriet Beecher Stowe.
I think there's also some great commentary that could be done with a story involving Andrew Jackson focused on Jeffersonian beliefs of democracy or, most obviously, his horrendous treatment of the Native Americans.

Alice Lee Roosevelt would indeed be very interesting - she was a major part of a diplomatic tour to Japan, China, Korea etc in 1905 which would make a good backdrop.
Mary Todd Lincoln who hasn't had a good rep over the years would be another good one - especially in the years after her husbands death when her oldest son kept trying to force her into an institution.

Hoover would be an interesting choice. He was basically the fall man for the depression in America and that could make an interesting character story, especially with Six and Peri. I'm open to writing if Big Finish wants hint hint.

I'm rather surprised there's no Underground Railroad story already (unless the Peri/Erimem Civil War novella touched on it).
I also thought the later lonely Seventh Doctor would fit nicely in a dreary very-human civil rights tale alongside big names like Malcolm X or Martin Luther King Jr.

The idea of the 3rd Doctor, or the 6th, and Thomas Jefferson would be great. I'd love to listen to something smart written about this very forward thinking man who was also a slave owner. It would make for interesting drama. Also any Doctor and Ben Franklin.

Huey Long. And he'd be great against McCoy I think. The Kingfish meets the Manipulator.
I'd imagine UK historical figures like William Wilberforce and Emmeline Pankhurst are much more likely though. Indeed Pankhurst was mentioned in a McGann book and in Smith and Jones, Tennant says he met her. Also, Oswald Mosely. Would be interesting to hear The Doctor with such a vile man.

I'm going to have to be mean and say "None" until they figure out how to do some passable American accents. I love BF, but this is one area that's cringeworthy.

Yiff - I had pretty much the same thought when I saw the title of this thread.
STill, some of the suggestions above I wouldn't be against - (Franklin, Hamilton in particular)
