The news in fantastic considering eleven years ago the BBC were going to take the DW licence away from Big Finish (thank goodness RTD intervened). Audio is a highly underrated medium for storytelling, so I'm happy that Big Finish is being recognised for all the TLC that goes into each and every story.

oh my! this was unexpected! but well deserved.
what a truly momentous month may is turning out to be.
now come on and let us know that you are having a regular 10th doc range, more war doctor boxes, 11 will pop in for a special & the 9th will be heard hiding in the shadows!
torchwood will continue for many seasons and two new ranges with torchwood US & torchwood AUS.
7th doc will have his penultimate adventure, the 4th will team up with adric again, the 5th will find camelion, 6th will make it up with Frobisher and the 8th will finally be reunited with charley to cheer him up a bit.
more 1st & 2nd early adventures will be found in the tardis's tidy away cupboard and the 3rd will go off on a whole new series of adventures with new unit friends.
the dalek empire will rise once again, and the cybermen will upgrade for a 3rd series while gallifrey look away and continue to stab each other in the backs.
JUST IMAGINE!

I like that the banner to announce this has both War and ten on it, suggesting that they're not 2016 exclusive outings for them.

Of course it means I'll have to cancel worrying about the extension in 2019 as I'd planned!

FANTASTIC news!!! Congratulations to everyone at BF for getting the license extended (and proving time and again they are a truly wonderful group of people) Interesting to note Hurt and Tennant have both been added to the banner, looks lie we can expect many more stories with both... That Torchwood tease...series 5 maybe? If Capaldi were to leave the show and wants to do BF audios, would they be able to negotiate the rights to the 12th Doctor, or would we have to wait until the next license renewal? ...Hint towards Grace? ...Wasn't the license only renewed last year anyway?

Well there goes my wallet. May a flight of angels sing thee to thy rest.
But seriously Big Finish deserve it.

If Capaldi were to leave the show and wants to do BF audios, would they be able to negotiate the rights to the 12th Doctor, or would we have to wait until the next license renewal? Who knows, the BBC and BF I suspect, but my *guess* would be the licence covers only what is known now, not what maybe in the future, between now and 2025 we could have 2 new Doctors.

Good point, I'd love for Capaldi to do BF audios...but I'd also like for him to break the 3 series rule and stay around on TV a bit longer (though 2014-2025 would be a little excessive...)

Just realized 1999-2025, the same length as the Classic Who run! (if you add the early Benny releases to that, BF will have been working in the Whoniverse longer the Classic TV series lasted!)
