So, if they get the license for Twelfth Doctor stuff after Capaldi regenerates, would that also be till 2025 or would that be something seperate?

You notice how none of us women here are so quick to tell you how old we'll be.

Children! I'll be older than I can contemplate without a stiff drink! I'll just sit over here in Tony's corner.

As do I, I'll be thirty by the time they boost the licence again. I like to think that life is like a fine vintage though, it gets better as you get older. Tell me I'm wrong people.

I'll be 40 in 2025. Of more interest though is that it'll be BF's 26th year of Who - exactly the same amount of time the Beeb made Classic Who. Quite an odd thought. Of course there will be a metric tonne more BF than Classic TV Who by then.

I thought BBC was going to yank the license when they were launching the TV reboot, but RTD or someone convinced them not to. OK, yes, but that was over 10 years ago, I don't understand why you would think it might impact a renewal today. The point wasn't that there was some direct impact, just that it's evidence that renewals are not necessarily guaranteed and may rather depend on the whims of whomever happens to be BBC executives at the time.....

AH OK yes, indeed I've never thought that renewal would be automatic, indeed I was always very wary of AudioGo, since in many respects BF was just a smaller competitor and from a pure business point of view, stamping all over BF would probably served them well, I feel a lot happier now the deals are direct with the BBC, but yes, who knows, someone at the BBC may feel they can do better in house or that some other outfit will give them a better deal.

With this licence extension, I'm looking forward to the 60th anniversary special already.

Something Sirens of Time-y perhaps? With four, War, eight and ten perhaps.

'Just because we can, doesn't mean we should.' We could have The Mandrels, a Sensorite, the Tenth Doctor, Leela, a recast Brigadier and Old Sixie meet up for an exciting adventure on Frontios where a stray Nestene meteorite has disturbed a cluster of Tractators - but I would personally get more than a little irritated by non-essential continuity references when simply telling a really good story would be far more satisfying. Reducing Doctor Who to a tick-off list is fine, but only to a certain extent. BF has usually managed to steer clear of such fan-happy continuity-fests in the past, and I hope it continues to show restraint in the future. Just my opinion, of course
