I just listened to the Kingmaker, and I thought for a moment that was whatshisname from the 9th doctor. Yeah, I know his name, but he don't respect who fans, so screw him, he aint getting any back. How has Eccleston ever disrespected fans?

Yeah, I know his name, but he don't respect who fans, so screw him, he aint getting any back. Personally I think that's a tad harsh. However, people are entitled to their opinions. For me, I've seen/heard nothing that I as a fan would consider disrespectful from Christopher Eccleston. He did good job in his year as The Doctor, which is all he was contracted to do; so he owes us nothing. I do hope one day that he will do some audios for BF, but it's not the end of the world if he doesn't

Chris has sent messages to sick kids, proposed marriage for a fan in-character, chats and signs for Who fans when he appears in theatre, took the meeting with Moffat to discuss the 50th rather than rejecting it out of hand....but sure. He's disrespectful. He's a man who likes to move on and isn't too fussed about the fame or the attention. He's one of the country's very best actors and I'm so glad we had him for 13 episodes. The revival needed someone as renowned and as legit as Chris to catch the public imagination in 2005 and he succeeded massively. I hope Chris doesn't know there's a nasty sub-section of "fans" who think because he doesn't want to play the role again he's persona non grata. Refusing to even use his name like the poster above? Childish, entitled nonsense.

He has in fact done numerous appearances in character for sick kids and such, snuck the Who references into his Heroes performance himself (they weren't in the script), and has always been a good sport about things.
I don't understand why people feel personally insulted by the man wanting to do other stuff than Who.

How has Eccleston ever disrespected fans? He hasn't. So was Ulyssessarcher talking about someone else? It was kind of hard to tell since this person was apparently so disrespectful that, like Voldemort, he can never be named.

I think he must have been talking about someone else. But the only one I can think of wasn't from the Ninth Doctor era.

In the latest podcast Nick states that Chris has decided not to reprise his role (for the moment). So if they don't recast it looks like it will be a while before we get the 9th Doctor Adventures.
Never say never tho' ...
Cheers

So if they don't recast it looks like it will be a while before we get the 9th Doctor Adventures. Rome wasn't built in a day... it took Tom Baker around twelve years to do Fourth Doctor audio adventures for Big Finish.

I'd be perfectly all right with more in the model of The Churchill Years.

Personally I find the desire some seem to have for 9th Doctor stories lacking the 9th Doctor a little...strange, the 9th Doctor's brief era mostly works (i.m.o) because of Eccleston's wonderful performance anchoring the storylines, writing around his abscence and expanding an already tightly plotted era merely to tick a box just dosen't interest me that much, I sometimes get the impression fans feel personally slighted by Eccleston's understandable, personal desire to move onto other projects and forget to appreciate what he as a non-fan actor has already given us, just because you can do something, dosen't mean you should.
Imagine 8 or War Doctor audios without McGann or Hurt...
It's easy to forget just how spoiled we are by the sheer amount of wonderful stories BF has already given us, and personally I'm happy to wait for the 9th Doctor 'proper' on audio, as the absence of further stories makes his era even more special...
(From a personal point of view, if 9DA with Rose were to happen I'm worried than the likely call for 10DA/Rose stories would undermine potential 9DA's)

That's an interesting point of view. Would you consider the Companion Chronicles "box-ticking"? I think they're one of the better ranges BF have put out. If they can do something like that or the Churchill Years with Nine until Eccleston decides he'd like to revisit the role I'd be perfectly happy.
Of course, you'd also need Piper back, unless you did something with just Nine & Jack while Rose is on holiday or something.

Of course, you'd also need Piper back, unless you did something with just Nine & Jack while Rose is on holiday or something. I've only heard two or three companion chronicles and a i very much liked what I heard, but my problem with CC 9 stories is that by and large the companion chronicles served to expand on the companions themselves and/or give us their point of view, rather than expand on the doctor himself, this isn't a bad thing by any means, but for me personally Eccleston was the main reason the 9th Doctor era works, and given his more limited screentime, seeming reluctance to reprise the role and the Rose centric point of view of Series 1, if BF were to do more stories with 9 I'd be more interested in them taking him into new areas rather than simply filling in the gaps. Speaking as someone who only follows a limited amount of BF's output, and a relative newcomer to the audio drama medium, I'm also a tad doubtful that Eccleston-less 9th Dr audio stories would be hugely popular with the fanbase, on other forums I've seen more than a few huge Tennant fans on the fence about the 10DA's and they actually had him in them...

Hmm. I can definitely see where you're coming from there. I think the success of the Companion Chronicles as a whole, plus how well The Churchill Years have done despite the vocal reservations from the fanbase/forums shows that there's a market for such things, though not perhaps as big a market as a full-cast.

I think if they can get Billy a set of ninth doctor companion chronicles could be ideal.
That's a big if though.

And one would assume that if they got Billie in they'd want to pair her up with Tennant for some full casts. Still though getting Billie and/or Barrowman to do some "The New Companion Chronicles" readings, maybe with a Churchill Years-ish mostly cast production, could be good. Maybe get Noel and some others in there too while they're at it.
Could even go the extra mile and have Briggs be "The Narrator", "supplying" the voice of The Doctor, Night of the Whisper style. Would keep costs down and give an approximation that people seem to have been happy with in the past.
