After work this evening I watched 'Freaky'. My 575th film of lockdown/the end of March. Jesus H.
I'm not going to say that it's my favourite of the ones I've seen this week, but I did enjoy it a fair amount... ('Shame I didn't get to see it on the big-screen though).

The Shawshank Redemption - Exquisite. Without flaw. One of those movies that makes you think, "Hey, maybe there's something about this whole cinema thing that's worthwhile." Once upon a time it was yet another film that was overlooked at the box office, but was saved by home video. It's easy to forget that now after 26 years at the top of "Best Ever" lists. But that's the blessing of home viewing, beautiful things like this are less likely to be forgotten.
It may not have been marketable in 1994, but goddamn is it human.

Check out my Seagal reviews Amazon where i rip into his films. Originally Seagal was to be the action man but cause his antics he was let go, you notice he's not credited on this movie. Temple Of Doom possibly my favourite Indy movie, the blu ray uncut see why it was trimmed originally.

The Day Of The Triffids (1962) - Whilst I will say that I'm glad that I have, finally, seen this & that I've enjoyed it enough (even if I did start it at almost 1 o'clock in the morning), Iiiiii don't particularly know if I'm a rush to see it again anytime soon...

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles (2014) - Fine, that was fine enough, I guess? It's not perfect, but I did enjoy it enough (though I'm glad I saw it at home on TV & not on the big-screen).
Blue Murder At St Trinians - Whilst I will say that it was partially a background watch, I did find it enjoyable enough.
Black Christmas (2006) - Whilst I will say I preferred the original, this one was a pleasant enough way to start unwinding for the night yesterday...
Parole, Inc. - Ok, that was ok. I'm not (always) a fan of 'older' films, but this was an ok-enough way of spending a lunchtime (I'd normally say that 71minutes is a little short, but for this it's about right)...

Hunky Dory. I wanted to like this, a film about a teacher in Wales in the 70s who puts on a version of The Tempest with songs from the likes of David Bowie. Nice 70s nostalgic glow but it's underwritten & clichéd.

Inbetween binging on TV shows I might have squeezed in a couple of animated movies,(two replays and one a first time) a documentary, a mockumentary and a hit movie I've never actually seen before..
Batman Ninja The Garden Of Words Spiderman : Into The Spiderverse Inception For The Love Of Spock Death To 2020

Batman Ninja The Garden Of Words Spiderman : Into The Spiderverse Inception For The Love Of Spock Death To 2020 I was surprised how well Spiderman Spiderverse worked. From the description, I was highly sceptical. But somehow, it works. And it works WELL.

Cruise of the Gods (2002)
Although I’m not a great admirer of either Steve Coogan or Rob Brydon I thought this was a nice one and done. Works far better if you view it through the lens of a drama then a comedy though.

Star Trek V: The Final Frontier - Alas, the uncouth disappointment that is Discovery does not have a monopoly on giving Spock irritating relatives he never mentioned before.

I think Paramount were unfair not allowing William Shatner to forfill his vision of the movie by cutting the budget of this film when the previous movie was a massive hit because Shatner had some cool ideas planned.

Murders in the Rue Morgue (1971) A bit meh to be honest, even with Herbert Lom and Jason Robards in the cast

Since last I posted here-
How to Train Your Dragon 3
A nice ending to the trilogy. Great animation as well.
Spider-Man: Homecoming
Just like the other MCU entries I’ve seen, this is simply an enjoyable and well made film. Being a Brit I have no idea what the significance of Homecoming actually is though, is it a second prom or something?

I think Paramount were unfair not allowing William Shatner to forfill his vision of the movie by cutting the budget of this film when the previous movie was a massive hit because Shatner had some cool ideas planned. It's always a shame when vision has to be compromised, but I don't quite agree. I've read and watched a fair bit of supplemental material, and most of what I've heard got nixed were mostly visual things, and a little less comedy. Would Sean Connery, ILM rock monsters, and Spock and McCoy betraying Kirk also really make things that much better? Maybe a little, but I'm not entirely convinced. Gene Roddenberry had suggested a film about meeting God multiple times, dating back to the first film. Executives always shot him down, and I think it was for good reason. The budget did have problems, but I heard that this movie's budget was second only to The Motion Picture. Wrath of Khan and Search for Spock were for sure made for less money than Final Frontier. In my opinion, you can still blame Shatner for not working around the limitations better, as previous films had done.

A Snow White Christmas - Very over-the-top at times but, you know... I've actually seen worse? National Treasure - I haven't seen it since it first came out (I'd have been 11). Whilst I will say that it was partially 'background viewing' whilst I did other things, I still found it to be decent enough. EDIT - I don't normally mention the short films I watch, but have just found a six minute one called Wings to be one of the sweetest things I have seen in a long while, & one that I would certainly reccomend/give another watch one day!

Carry On Screaming! (1966)
A blooming masterpiece which really nails the look of the Hammer Horror films. I believe they actually had one of the set designers or one of the crew from the Hammer Horror films now that I think about it.
Harry H Corbett also is great as Sidney Bung. Making full use of the comedic skills he no doubt learnt from doing Steptoe and Son.
