Later on this month, (October 28th) Titan Comics start their Eighth Doctor mini-series. Is anyone interested in buying this? If Titan's previous Doctor Who offerings are anything to go by, this should be very enjoyable. The five-issue series will also feature a new companion for the Eighth Doctor, Josie. With so many Eighth Doctor BF audios around, it will be strange to see Paul McGann's Doctor in adventures with a new companion, and in what direction they go in, so I'm certainly looking forward to reading these.

I wait until Titan releases the omnibus editions and get those. I get the digital comics from Comixology as they get released. I haven't any room spare on my shelves for trades/hardback collections these days unfortunately.

I buy the 12th Doctor ongoing because he's one of my fave Docs and pick up 10 and 11 when reviws seem good. I have to draw a line somewhere. I WILL get 8's series because the McGann strips of the late 90s and early 2000s are some of my fave Who. A nostalgia trip would be nice.

I'm interested in this. Titan's Eleventh Doctor series has been great, the Tenth has been fairly good, Twelve is hit or miss, and I'm reserving judgement on Nine til the run finishes, but I like it so far. But oh, the budget, and oh, the beautiful variant covers...

But oh, the budget, and oh, the beautiful variant covers... Variant covers don't bother me too much, but the normal covers of the Tiitan Doctor Who ranges #1's, done in the same style by Alice X Zhang, are impressive and very striking.

I love the Alice X Zhang covers, but the fact that the other ones are /Paul McGann/ variant covers makes them somewhat tempting as well as the main Zhang cover.

Yeah, I've been using Comixology, but I don't really like that app. Its still better than getting a bunch of physical comic books though.

What don't you like about it?

My main problem is that I can't buy comics directly through the app, but I also just find it annoying having my Doctor Who comics mixed together with all of my other comics. It makes it more difficult to find whatever I'm looking for.

My main problem is that I can't buy comics directly through the app, You can thank Apple for that, and that's the reason I use my Android phone to buy all my digital comics from Comixology. It's damn annoying that the iOS app doesn't allow direct purchasing. For sorting of comics though, the smart list options in the Comixology app are very good though, not perfect by any means, but handy enough to find what I want.

Find it interesting that the new companion for the eighth doctor, Josie, is an artist, as Gabby , tenth doctor's companion, is also an artist

So how does it work, then, on Apple devices? You buy the comic issue and it gets delivered to your iPhone or iPad? How does one get a physical copy? Or doesn't that exist?

So how does it work, then, on Apple devices? You buy the comic issue and it gets delivered to your iPhone or iPad? How does one get a physical copy? Or doesn't that exist? On Apple devices you have to purchase digital comics [from Comixology] outside of the Comixology app, as Apple require 30% of purchases made through apps running on their system, which some companies would rather not give them. So on iOS you would have to go to the Comixology website via your browser to purchase the comic(s) that you want, which would then be accesable through the Comixology app - or website - to read and download as normal. As for physical copies, if you mean paper comics (floppies) then no, you don't have access to a print copy through Comixology, but some publishers do allow Comixology to provide digital back-up files - either in the PDF or CBZ format, with no DRM - for you to download and keep. (Accessed through the 'My Books' section of the Comixology website.) Unfortunately for fans of the big two, Marvel & DC do not allow DRM free back-up downloads.

So they've just announced a miniseries with the Fourth Doctor and Sarah Jane. The first part comes out in March. Details
