I recently got volume 1 of the Tenth Doctor Titan comic and thought it was marvelous fun. I looked over the other Doctor series at the store and I'm planning to pick up more soon since I like what I've seen so far. Honestly, you're better off (if you're in the UK like me) getting Doctor Who Comic rather than the Graphic Novels because the GNs are really far behind the comics. Just my advice but your choice. They are not that far behind, relatively speaking, it's months rather than years. Plus the hardbacks do look nice on the shelf, so I prefer them too. Also the Titan collected volumes keep the indiviual Doctor's separate in their own volume, as they are collected versions of the original US Doctor Who comic. Incidentally, isn't the 'Doctor Who Comic' in the UK behind the various individual Doctor Who comics published in the US by Titan, or have the UK reprints caught up now? But hardback edition, US comic or UK magazine, I'm sure Titan don't care what format people choose as long as they are buying them! Likewise, I don't care either, as long as Titan keep making them...

They are but the Graphic Novels are not solved over here until after they have been published in Doctor Who Comic, hence why they are behind.

The next issue of Tales From The TARDIS sees the beginning of year 2 of Doctor Who Comic here in the UK for 10,11 and 12.
Not sure I like them moving 11 and 12 from the main comic to its other incarnation. What's going to happen with Doctor Who Comic, I wonder? Are they going to stop making it and have Tales From The TARDIS take over? Will the 4th and 8th Doctor miniseries take over from 11 and 12? New home for the 9th Doctor comics maybe?
Whatever happens, it seems like a mistake not to have the 12th Doctor in the main comic IMO.

I wonder why they bothered with 'Doctor Who comic' magazines in the UK anyway, what's wrong with just releasing the original US comic(s) in the UK? Surely it would have been cheaper for Titan to sell the same comics both sides of the Atlantic than have the cost of reprinting their own material in magazine form for a different country? (!)

Would be more expensive for us as customers though. Having three series in one comic makes it better value for money.

I flicked through one of those Doctor Who comic magazines in a newsagents a month or two ago and I thought the artwork wasn't as bright as in the original comic, which I had. It could just have been cheaper paper stock, but the North American comics definitely look better than the UK magazine to me. Maybe if there was no UK magazine the original Titan comics would be cheaper in the UK, as at the moment they are technically 'imports' which always adds a few quid on to anything... although probably not cheap enough for three of them to cost less than one UK magazine. Magazine format or comic book format, as long as people are enjoying them that's the main thing.

To be honest, I'd rather they kept them on lower-quality paper in one comic than having to pay for so many separate comics at once. I just want the comics for as cheap as possible personally.

Although I wasn't too impressed with the Torchwood comics that Titan released around 2010, but with the excellent BF Torchwood audios and Cpt Jack already appearing in Titan's 9th Doctor comics, the time is right for some new Torchwood adventures from Titan.

With Barrowman as the writer having first hand knowledge of the story lines going in the Big Finish plays this could wind up being a very cool way to experience the resurgence of Torchwood in two different media which complement each other.

It'll be interesting to see how they release this here in the UK. Will it act as a break in Tales From The TARDIS from one of the ongoing Doctor series or will it be its own separate title?

Hi All I have a question about the UK comics. I subscribe and so far every issue has featured Docs 10, 11 & 12 plus the War Dr story. Will the UK comic eventually contain the stories with Docs 4, 8 and 9 or should I buy the graphic novel versions of these? Does anybody know? Thanks

Thanks I don't follow the Titan comics, but as far as I know the 4/8/9 stories are limited mini series arcs so it could prove cheaper to just wait for the Graphic novel compilations (I intend to get the 8th Doctor one at least). I know Gallifrey Base has a very active sub forum dedicated to Who comics, magazines etc ('The Stars Fell On Stockbridge') so you could maybe register over there as well and get a more informed opinion?

I have mixed feelings about this. On one hand, it's always great to see multiple Doctors in the same story. On the other, if they do it every summer as an event eventually it'll become less 'special'.

On the other, if they do it every summer as an event eventually it'll become less 'special'. I agree. It looks like an interesting story and I like what Titan is doing with the license, but multi Doctors all the time will have diminishing returns. It may be the nature of the comic book industry. Comic companies have to shift books and we see both Marvel and DC regularly pushing major events that sell comics but aren't so special anymore because they're done so often. For example, the constant renumbering of titles to get the sales boost from new #1 issues and Marvel's once a year death of a character roulette.
