If that is happening that would be pretty sweet. Hopefully it would lead to the Dalek Master Plan being animated as well as other lost episodes,
Until I see it officially confirmed by he BBC I will refrain from getting my hopes up.

I could see it happening. Pretty much the only way to get more true HD Classic Who.

With not a single named source, this would appear to be rumours stolen from the forums of Gallifrey Base. No paper has a worse record on Who rumours than The Mirror.
So I doubt this is happening - seriously doubt it. The animated DVDs didn't sell well at all so unless, as Dalekbuster suggests, this is to promote the BBC Store then I don't see it being viable. Even then...a 2 and a half hour animation wouldn't be cheap.
I would though buy it in an instant. The Dad's Army animation was fantastic.

If it was from Cosgrove Hall, then why did the BBC take it down? could be for any reason. It could be the soundtrack or its doctor or the daleks. Doesn't have to have a reason. Bbc worldwide have a track record of removing things for very little reason at all. I mean they blocked the power remake despite it being for charity

Fully agree, which is why until the BBC confirms they have given the green light to a project like this, we should all go back to listening to our Big Finish collections.

A couple people have posted their ripped copies without sound and they've been taken down too. And there are plenty of fan-animations of missing episodes out there on the web that don't get taken down... but who knows. If it's a hoax, it's impressive enough screenshotwise.

IT would be curious indeed considering the woeful release that was "The Underwater Menace", and yes I bought it, completist that I am.

Apart from the brand new found episode, the fantastic commentary (featuring a deceased Doctor, no less), a great making of and the second part of the fantastic loook at Television centre...I hated it too

Hope is always good but rags turning rumour into "news" make stories like this take on lives of their own and people end up disappointed if they buy into it. I know Phil Morris has been doing his nudge-wink teasing again but, yes, I'll wait for anything official (or at least from a trusted source) before paying anything like this even slight attention.

Phil Morris would know nothing about it though. His job is to be the Indiana Jones of missing TV/film not to know BBC Worldwide's plans.

The biggest annoyance was no animation on the missing "Web of Fear" episode.

It's hard to say if there is anything to this rumor or not, but if the BBC did do something like this I would hope it would lead to a more unified approach to the lost episodes. I find the telesnaps to be a little difficult to watch sometimes and it's hard not to be disappointed when the BBC goes that route instead of the animation route.

I'd wait for someone to put it up used on amazon. I might not pay $20 or whatever, but if someone passes it on for more like $8 ....eh...that's not much
