Interesting thought if web 3 was ever found. Would they expect us to rebuy the DVD just to get ep 3 or would they ask us to hand discs over to replace them like when there are faulty discs. Seems a bit of a tough ask just to rebuy for 1 ep and it seems unlikely with how extras getting less that they would make new extras just for this

It wouldn't make sense for them to pay for the restoration, and then give them out for free. I'm sure it would be possible to buy just episode 3 on iTunes and other streaming services though.

Yeah, I would expect we'd still have to pay. One thing they might do is release a Web of Fear Special Edition though with a few special features like a commentary and a behind the scenes documentary.

Yes this is creeping up in several places - I may even stick a click-bait post on my blog! I don't want to be left out

If its animated Power of the Daleks, I'll pass. If its a complete DW, its pre-order. If its part 3 of Web, I'll wait.

I'm preparing myself to eat a big bowl of humble pie if it turns out to be Power animated, but it'll taste delicious anyway - don't mind being wrong when it means good stuff a-coming I'm a member of the BBC Store though the only thing I've bought is the Dad's Army animated lost ep. I'll be happy to make this my second purchase if it is indeed what we think.

As long as its a complete story (either all animated, all live action, or a mix of both), I'm sure I'll get it, whatever it is.

If its animated Power of the Daleks, I'll pass. Why? Animated Power of the Daleks would be fantastic news for this fandom. I would pre-order a DVD/Blu-ray release straight away if it were to be announced. I'll be shocked if it's not released on BBC Store but I hope it's not exclusive to it (even though it probably will be). I'd like a physical edition.

There's a screenshot floating around on FB that suggests this will be announced tonight but won't be available till November to stream. Hope not - I remember the night of the announcement of the triumphant returns of Enemy Of The World and Web Of Fear I was sitting watching them a few hours later in the very wee, wee hours.

According to those that saw the leak:
- Episode 1 will be available from 5:50pm on 5 November (exact time of the original broadcast 50 years earlier!), with the remaining episodes released over the next five days.
- It'll be exclusive to the BBC Store until 14 November.
- DVD released on 21 November.
Never been so glad to be wrong

I have all the surviving clips on dvd. I don't really see the point of having ALL six episodes animated. I can shut my eyes and listen to Power of the Daleks, and thats probably better than any animation. If it were colour - that would be different!

I have the audio with narration too, but it really feels like one of those episodes that you need to see to fully appreciate. I've always found the episode to be kind of boring, but that is also how I felt about Enemy of the World before they found it.

I can see your point but I think animation adds a new experience far superior to listening to an audio recording. It will probably be the closest any of us will get to seeing Power of the Daleks as it would have looked on TV. DVD and not Blu-ray? I would find that surprising because this would be the perfect opportunity to have another classic series Blu-ray release. It might get announced later. Details are pretty sketchy at the moment I hope so. I'd rather own a Blu-Ray release than a DVD one.

With the quality of the animation that we usually get in these releases, I doubt it will really be significantly different in high def.

The DVD so it doesn't look out of place on my shelf and the blu Ray so I could get it in hd
