Whether it's good or bad, this story certainly won't be the end of the world. It's a fun one-off Christmas special. I'd have an issue with permanently putting superheroes in the Doctor Who universe (and I love superheroes), but this is just one story. Plus, it'll be great for Steven Moffat to show some of his Superman enthusiasm. And then he can go save the Superman movies. Please? I don't think Superman can be saved unless the DC Extended Universe comes to an end, because they've established the DCEU's Superman as having the darkness of Batman. I think they just need to make his character arc about becoming the lighter Superman that we all know and love.

Suicide Squad underwent reshoots to add humour. I haven't seen that film, so I'm not in a position to tell if that worked.

They need Wonder Woman and Justice League to hit BIG time. Bill Jett Ramey who runs BatmanOnFilm - the best site of its nature - is someone who knows lots of people inside WB. He's been on good terms with Nolan and was on set for all his films. He's not loved the DCU movies so far but has long been saying that there's a lot of people in WB that do not want a Justice League shared universe but just a Batman one. So everything would be either starring or co-starring Batman or a significant feature of the Batfamily or rogues like Nightwing, Joker or the like. He's also said he doesn't think there's a hope in hell that Cyborg does get a solo movie since there are cold feet already about giving solo films to much bigger names and that Flash now needing a third director in 12 months is also a result of massive studio interference which we've seen plague the films already. For anyone interested in the DCU, Bill's podcasts are always fun and while he's a bit of a bum when it comes to his contacts - he's had many, many scoops.

I would love to see Nightwing on screen in live action. Even his own series, possibly animated would be fun. I can see an animated adaptation of Grayson. We know how bad studio interference can be from the Fant4stic fiasco and the failure of Amazing Spider-Man 2 with Fox and Sony respectively.

We know how bad studio interference can be from the Fant4stic fiasco and the failure of Amazing Spider-Man 2 with Fox and Sony respectively. . Fan4stic and Spidey at least were in their own little pockets so didn't ruin anything much going forward except potential sequels - and having seen both I wouldn't want to see sequels to either anyway. The problem with DC announcing all their movies for 8 years in advance is they didn't consider for one moment that the public would say "No thanks" to their movies. Batman and Superman together was supposed to make a billion easy and a lot more besides. So they're left with years of already announced films and a lot of execs wondering how they can interest people in Cyborg and Aquaman if they struggled to make a profit with Batman, Wonder-Woman and Superman together. We have seen Marvel films interfere too - where Joss Weddon and Jon Favreau both walked away from working on more of them after Ultron and Iron Man 2 respectively after finding that though the first film they made for Marvel was a pleasure, the second one saw them micro-managed to set up future films before telling their own stories. When they did the same to Edgar Wright on Ant-Man he walked away pretty peeved at wasting 2 years, we subsequently found out he didn't want to have to shoe-horn in an Avengers appearance and have Hydra show up which maevel demanded he put in after they'd OKd his script. The interference can work if there's someone like Kevin Feige running the show who is clearly helping make movies that turn massive numbers at the box-office and garner good to great reviews to boot. When the creative voice is a Zack Snyder and all the films have to fit in with his vision....it didn't need Nostradamus to see that was going to be messy. How he managed to have a huge bomb with Sucker Punch and go straight into being the gatekeeper of DC Films I'll never know. However, Geoff Johns has been promoted now and Snyder has had Justice League Part 2 taken away from him so there is a glimmer of hope we may yet see such wonders as Superman smile.

Oh God, I can't wait for this. The Twelfth Doctor and super heroes? Comedy gold.
And Steven Moffat's 'Red Rat' story is too precious for this world.

Big Finish writer John Dorney writes a emotional character driven story Absent Friends in Doom Coalition 3 which made me feel the characters feelings & emotions & is in my opinion one of the best stories of 2016.
Steven Moffat writes about cheesy superheroes for Christmas, nuff said.

A stand-alone story to watch when you're stuffed from Christmas dinner. Beats something more temporally complex.

I just prefer stories that engage me, make me feel the emotional turmoil of the characters as that creates good drama, this story moved me which very few things do nowadays & was brilliantly acted by the cast. I'll watch the Christmas Special & I'm not Moffat bashing i just prefer what Big Finish is doing with the Doctor & characters at the minute more than the tv series.

Moffat writes plenty of engaging stories that make us feel the emotional turmoil of the characters. Heaven Sent comes instantly to mind. Besides, we don't really know much about teh Christmas special yet. If nothing else, it will probably be fun, but I wouldn't be surprised if there was some good drama in it as well.

Kinda hard to judge the tone/plot of the episode from a short clip, but it looks quite camp, and silly (which is exactly what we should expect from Christmas episodes by now) but actually quite accessible and fun which is exactly what is needed at Christmas after a year break and two darker series. I've only liked one or two of the Christmas specials but this looks like it could be quite amusing, glad Lucas seems to have toned things down. I didn't realize just how much I've missed Capaldi's Doctor, role on Series 10.

This looks another camp & cheesy fluff episode, just like the previous Christmas episode, sorry but i like my Doctor Who to be dark, gritty & create great drama that i can invest in.
