There are certainly shows that are meant to be kids' shows, but I find that the line gets blurred quite frequently. Star Wars TCW and Rebels, Avatar The Last Airbender, The Muppets, Looney Tunes, Pixar's films, Batman TAS...heck, even Doctor Who! Every one of them is ostensibly marketed at children, but all are thoroughly enjoyable as an adult. The line is hard to find sometimes That's kind of what I love about the shows that have stuck with me over the years. After a certain point in adulthood, there's a desire to go back and revisit things from childhood to see how they fare with being "all terribly grown-up" and so forth. The vast majority of them tend to hold water because there was the immediate thing as a kid to enjoy, but as an adult, you're kind of standing there just quietly in awe at what you didn't notice. Like Looney Tunes doing a Wagnerian opera ("Kill the wabbit~!") in something like six or seven minutes. It goes back to the idea that there are things which are terribly relevant as a child, less relevant as a teen and irrelevant as an adult, and vice versa. Irrelevant to the child, more relevant to the teen, very relevant to the adult. Somewhere in those two scales are the things which always stick with you. Things with as much pertinence now as they had then. Like... Ohh, off the top of my head, Trollhunters. A Guillermo del Toro series that doesn't go into the intensity of things like Pan's Labyrinth or Shape of Water, but takes a very candid look at an unlikely band of friends easing apart what the word "monster" actually means. They're very clever. They don't short-change their audience just because they're young. If anything, they try to give them a challenge, as a result. Definitely agree 😊

Just finished “a tale dark and grim”. I think I prefer the earlier more episodic episodes more, but the finale did have some very satisfying moments. Like finding out why Hansel and Gretal’s parents decapitated them! Also I liked they brought all a lot of the earlier characters back for the finale! Also more decapitation ( with a dragon crawling out of from the inside of a headless corpse)! For a show that at least claims to be for kids, it does love onscreen depiction of chopping off main characters heads! I still only like the more serious British raven narrator, the other two ravens are like if you crossed the gargoyles from “Hunchback of Norte Dame” with Donkey (from Shrek) and Dory (from Finding Nemo) and then dialed their annoyingness up to 1000%. Glad I watched this overall though! I liked it for being a bizarre bright, cheerful and colorful yet dark and disturbing fairytale that claims to be a kids show yet somehow features decapitation, murder, self mutilation, cannibalism, demonic possession, deals with the devil ,etc with a tone that is somehow A Series of Unfortunate Events meets Shrek. It was a unique experience to say the least!

Steptoe and Son “- And Son!” (1970)
Probably one of the saddest television episodes ever.

Steptoe and Son - “The Siege of Steptoe Street" (1965)
After today’s appalling and tragic news, I thought I’d cheer myself up with a favourite of mine.

Finished Squid Game. It was good but the final episode was disappointing.

Steptoe and Son - “The Desperate Hours”
Easily one of their finest episodes. With a brilliant guest turn from Leonard Rossiter.

Star Wars: Visions Episodes 1-4 Really interesting mix so far.
First one looked awesome and had a great enemy design. Second was a total delight. Very charming animation and premise.
Third was a little underwhelming. Trigger is one of my favourite Anime Studios, and it definitely had their snappy flair Something about it just didn't quite grip me.
Fourth was very atmospheric. Given Star Wars inspirations, the Shinto vibes being used adjacent to the force felt vey apposite.

Thought I’d give the reboot of The Demon Headmaster a go. I must admit, I never watched the original series but I do seem to recall reading one of the books when I was young. The Prime Minister’s Brain as I seem to recall.
Liking it so far. Very much a step up from what CBBC usually produces.

Finished off the reboot of The Demon Headmaster. Well, that was absolutely terrific. The child cast were all excellent and Nicholas Gleaves was quite frankly mesmerising in the role. I look forward to what they do in a second series when they’re finally able to do it.

Boondocks Season 1 This is something I've often caught the tail end of, but never actually watched through until now. It's got really great characters, and manages to navigate a lot of dark and uncomfortable subjects, while still clearly having a lot of fun with them. Very moreish.
