I hope so too, but those distant drums of war are getting closer. He doesn't tend to have companions who just give up travelling and whom he can just drop in on again like most of the classic Doctors. There's no shortage of melancholy-to-tragic endings for Eight.

I'm beginning to think we'll never see a carefree Eight again
Cheers

I have a feeling that they will be around for at least another boxset. (Crossing fingers.) I really don't want to see Eight lose another companion. If one or both of them are gone by the end of Doom Coalition, I don't think they will die. I think they will just move on like companions usually do.

At LI Who Paul looked at Nick and said that he would like to keep these two for a while. Nick agreed. I also don't think they would, as a company, be so keen to get rid of either of these two actresses too fast.

Indeed! I'm so excited for this boxset! Yes. I was going to "squee", but I restrained myself. I didn't want to be annoying in my anticipation.

I finally got round to finishing DC3 yesterday, and i really hope the Meddling Monk goes up against the "Interfering Nun", because that would be both brilliant. and daft

Helen, 8 and Liv have become a really likable team, 16 episodes aren't enough, more to the point the 8th Doctor deserves at least a small break from the heartbreak and departures of recent years before the time war starts... IIRC dosen't the first DC boxset also confirm the Doctor and Liv have been travelling by themselves for several years at this point? That leaves room for many more stories as well.

4.1 Ship in a Bottle by John Dorney The Doctor, Liv and Helen are hurtling into a future that has been utterly destroyed, trapped inside a shuttle with no possible means of escape. But with the lives of everyone in the universe at stake, they've got to find one. And soon. When the stakes are this high, you can't just give up. Or can you?
4.2 Songs of Love by Matt Fitton Left to fend for herself against a bunch of power-hungry plotters hell-bent on destroying the universe, what choice does a girl have but to throw in her lot with the winning side? Using her past to her advantage, River Song returns to the ancestral seat of the Time Lords to make her last stand.
4.3 The Side of the Angels by Matt Fitton Cardinal Ollistra has plans for New York, plans which involve the Deputy Mayor and her sponsor, one ‘Reverend Mortimer’ – better known to the Doctor as the Meddling Monk. The Eleven arrives to stamp out the resistance, but that isn't the only danger the Doctor finds lurking in the shadows – for New York is a city of Weeping Angels.
4.4 Stop the Clock by John Dorney The time has arrived. Events are in motion. The end of the universe is at hand and the Doctor and his friends have one hour to save eternity. Starting now.

I wonder how much influence McGann has on the scripts? I like the idea of him emailing/phoning Nick Briggs ''This script is quite good but I want more misery!'' I still think the 8th Doctor has the most tragic ending of them all, very fitting considering how joyous he was when he started off.

Yeah, I definitely want another set of adventures (another four-box series or just a bunch of stand-alone adventures) with Liv and Helen. I mean, Helen just got here and Liv is too fantastic to get rid of now.
