Released July 2017SynopsisA brand new boxset of four adventures, featuring monsters from the new series of Doctor Who! Night of the Vashta Nerada by John DorneyFunworld was set to be the happiest planet in the galaxy. A planet of joy, of euphoria, of laughter and delight. Except construction was marred by reports of a predator and then, a few days before opening, all communication ceased. Owner Georgia Donnelly is desperate to open the resort and has hired Amanda Steele's crew to find out what happened on the planet. They're the best. But even they might not be up to the task. Joined by the Doctor and being picked off one by one, they slowly start to realise that something terrifying lurks in the shadows. Empire of the Racnoss by Scott HandcockWhen a distress call rips the TARDIS from the Vortex, dragging it back through time, it arrives in the midst of a conflict between Gallifrey and an ancient foe. The Doctor, as ever, wants to help, but in returning a wounded combatant home, he becomes further and further entangled in a web of deceit and recrimination. A web spun by an eight-legged Empress and her minions… The Empire of the Racnoss is at war, and wherever he stands, the Doctor is on the wrong side. The Carrionite Curse by Simon GuerrierKaty Bell returns to her Midlands home to find strange goings-on at the buskers fair. A witch trial in the 1980s. A bonfire ready to be lit... Luckily, a colourful visitor is already investigating, and the local vicar, Katy's dad, is versed in tales of the macabre. Terrifying forces are on the loose, and the town hall holds a secret. There is black magic in the Black Country, and the Doctor has the name of his enemy on the tip of his tongue... Something wicked this way comes. Day of the Vashta Nerada by Matt FittonAs the Time War rages, Cardinal Ollistra of Gallifrey seeks to create ever more dangerous weapons to deploy against the enemy. When the Doctor stumbles across Synthesis Station, he discovers that the Time Lords have sponsored a project to weaponise already-lethal creatures. But in doing so, Eva Morrison and her team have unwittingly used a colony of Vashta Nerada with a very unfortunate history of humanoid contact. The Doctor finds himself leading a desperate race for survival, in which the shadows may be the least of their worries… Written By: John Dorney, Scott Handcock, Simon Guerrier, Matt Fitton Directed By: Barnaby Edwards CASTTom Baker (The Doctor), Peter Davison (The Doctor), Colin Baker (The Doctor), Paul McGann (The Doctor), Adjoa Adhoh (Racnoss Empress), Nigel Planer (Old Racnoss Emperor/ Herrax), Andrew French (Racnoss Consort), Lisa Kay (Alayna), Pam Ferris (Amanda Steele), Lorelei King (Georgia Donnelly), Emma Lowndes (Phelan), Matt Devitt (Bennetto), Maya Sondhi (Katy Bell), Andrée Bernard (Mary Sissinghurst), Adèle Anderson (Eileen Nelthorpe), Michael Fenton-Stevens (Rev Douglas Bell), Jacqueline Pearce (Ollistra), Jan Ravens (Dr Eva Morrison), Himesh Patel (Biotech Dendry), Tim Wallers (Commander Roxita/ Security Chief Raldon). Whilst it's great to see Cardinal Ollistra will be in one of the stories in this set, I'm not sure how I feel about the Doctors being out of order - because with the inclusion of Paul McGann, it can only be 4,5,6 and 8 or 4,5,7 and 8 now. Unless one of the stories is a Multi-Doctor, which I hope is the case now.

I would imagine it'll be a multi-Doctor third story featuring the Sixth and Seventh Doctors. If so, it'd be a shame it's a combination which has very recently been used in the second River Song set. They're meant to be special occasions, so I'd rather different combinations of Doctors. That's me being presumptuous at the moment though!
I don't think it'd be the end of the world if one of the Doctors were omitted. We have an abundance of material from those two incarnations, particularly the Sixth.
Looking forward to this set immensely. I love the Fourth Doctor, I love the Eighth Doctor, I love the Vashta Nerada, I love Ollistra and I love connected stories. I hope the Fourth Doctor unwittingly loses in his story, I really like it when the Doctor loses, in a sadistic sort of way! The Fifth Doctor story interests me too; I rather like the Racnoss.

That's a spot of OCD on your part. I'd much rather have a story with the Eighth Doctor in the Time War - new territory - than another Sixth Doctor adventure for the sake of chronology.
Besides, if it's anything like the first set, the monsters are on the spine of the slipcase.

Brilliant! One by Dorney! - and the more Vashta Nerada stories, the less chance of the Slitheen appearing (just having Seven name their home planet will be enough). ;-) That's a spot of OCD on your part. I'd much rather have a story with the Eighth Doctor in the Time War - new territory - than another Sixth Doctor adventure for the sake of chronology. Nothing wrong with a spot of OCD, hopefully mine has been good to Big Finish. :-) I'm going to still hope we get 4-8 in CDNM2 myself. You do make a point but I still don't think I'd mind a Six & Seven story that isn't part of a River Song set. Hope I'm not deluding myself but I'm getting curious if that is what me might get - perhaps since they probably didn't have so much dialog in Diary as in a Doctor adventure, there was the opportunity to have Colin and Sylvester together in one of these stories?

This is very good news but it has a drawback means I want War Doc 4 now! So potently I can listen to these future appearances with the knowledge of her final end ?

I like the structure of the first and last adventure having the same monster, especially as it is the Vashta Nerada.
I know it clearly says "boxset of four Adventures", but there could have been the opportunity to have two half hour stories on the same disc. One adventure for six and one for seven, each providing an opportunity to use some of the... "sillier" (for want of a better term) New Monsters, without those monsters out staying their welcome.
As that won't be the case I wonder which Doctor and which Monster we will get next...? I am loving the anticipation! Let's hope they have plans for many more of these sets. I am still hoping for the Fourth Doctor and the Carrionites...

Sounds great, I loved the first set so when we get a release date I'll probably be pre-ordering this one.
Maybe in a few years time we could have New Doctors vs Classic Monsters, The War Doctor vs The Zaarbi anyone?

I kind of hope the remaining is a Seventh Doctor story, and they give Sixie an outing over in the Churchill set.
Still also hoping a future New Monsters set features the first three Doctors in some capacity!

Still also hoping a future New Monsters set features the first three Doctors in some capacity! I'm hopeful that the remaining is a Seventh Doctor and they announce comic adaptations with the Sixth Doctor and Frobisher! But, yeah, the Sixth Doctor appearing in the Churchill set would be absolutely perfect too...

This is a neat way to bookend the set and I'm excited to hear Eight and Ollistra. Love the writing talent that's lined up on this set, too.

While we're waiting for this to come out, we should watch Tom Baker read the story "sredni vashtar" m.youtube.com/watch?v=bWtk2G0ikxc

Still also hoping a future New Monsters set features the first three Doctors in some capacity! What an opportunity they would waste if they didn't put a Classic Doctor with Churchill. Colin or the Third would work I think, hopefully voiced by Colin or Tim NOT McNeice reading their lines like Vol 1. This year with River 2 (OK released Christmas Day but meant for this month), Leela with the War Doctor and UNIT Assembled they're really upping the ante on the New/Classic crossovers.

I remember the old days when Big Finish was creative and their stories were diverse without being tied to a story arc. I'm getting tired of the Time War, it's a bad idea since the beginning. No British writer would dare to write to his icon Doctor as a Snake Plissken-like killer, it's like making Santa Claus a rapist.

Hang on both RTD and Moffatt are British and they did do it, then Moffatt clumsily undid it, fortunately BF delve into the physiological motivations of the War and the War Doc better.
Personally I still don't think War is a warmonger I think he's in bad situations where the only choices he has so far are the lesser of two evils, plus the situations are being manipulated anyway.

No British writer would dare to write to his icon Doctor as a Snake Plissken-like killer, it's like making Santa Claus a rapist. As far I'm aware there has only been 11 explicit Time War Stories (CDNM 1.4, TDORS 1.4 and the three War Doctor volumes, plus the occasional reference elsewhere) by BF so far, and the TV series moved away from heavy Time War angst three or four series ago. I find it ironic you have issues with the War Doctor being harderned killer as I've often seen complaints by fans he wasn't vicious enough...
