I really love The Shakespeare Code, but Carrionites never really crossed my mind to be used in this set. Now I think about it, it's a really good choice. As they say in the announcement, Colin's well suited to them!
Now I'm really looking forward to this set and July isn't too far away! The only downside is there's no involvement from Sylvester, which is a slight shame as I thought Harvest of the Sycorax was by far the worst story in the first set.

Blimey, Shirley, if I hadn't pre-ordered this, I'd pre-order this!

By my count, this is only Simon Guerrier's third full-cast Doctor Who story, and his first for Colin - his previous ones were The Judgement of Isskar in 2009 and The Settling in 2006.
Also: Andree Bernard, who's in the cast list for the Carrionite story, was also in The Shakespeare Code! I wonder if that's a coincidence or a casting gag.

I doubt that it was a coincidence, since Simon states that he wanted to link it to The Shakespeare Code in the description of the story. I think this is going to be one of my favorite releases of the year. Six and The Carrionites! The were made for each other. And I am perfectly fine without Seven in this release. It feels like he's been in a ton of stuff lately, with the recent Novel Adaptations and the River Song set. I don't mind giving Sylvester a break on this one.

I wonder if they'll be allowed to use any of these monsters in spinoff ranges. Jago vs the carrionites would certainly be something to hear!

Whilst I was hoping for the Reapers, the Sixth Doctor VS the Carrionites will still be cool to listen to. Here's hoping for the Reapers in volume 3!

Unless the character is revealed to be Dolly Bailey this wouldn't be down to Simon though. He's talking about the writing, not the casting.

It is kind of a perfect pairing of Doctor and baddie. Written by one of my favorite BF writers. Eagerly looking forward to this one.

Guerrier won me over by mentioning Hammer's TO THE DEVIL A DAUGHTER in the press release. I was going to buy the set anyway, but any Hammer reference is automatically cool.

If the Carrionites are coming back, of course it would be against the Sixth Doctor. They just fit together.
Overall, Classic Doctors New Monsters Volume Two looks like a great set of stories. I can't wait and I'm already thinking about volume three.

I can't wait and I'm already thinking about volume three. The Fourth Doctor and the Carrionites was my original choice, but I have to concede that a Big Finish know their stuff - the Sixth Doctor is a great choice. The only thing that could have made it even better is if the had got Christina Cox to reprise her role.

The Sixth Doctor vs the Carrionites makes a lot of sense. Sixie is a very long winded Doctor and the Carrionites are very chatty villains.

And I am perfectly fine without Seven in this release. It feels like he's been in a ton of stuff lately, with the recent Novel Adaptations and the River Song set. I don't mind giving Sylvester a break on this one. I was still hoping maybe Seven and another Doctor would share one of the stories, but the stories you mention do serve as consolation and reminder that I'm not actually being deprived of Seventh Doctor stories. I'm very glad to see the Fourth Doctor included in this set also.

Happy it is a Sixth Doctor story. Much like the Judoon story it is an interesting choice of villain.

I haven't watched The Shakespeare Code in a long time, but I'm absolutely excited to have even more Sixth Doctor as well as a script from one of my favorite writers!
