Well it's not the only Time War is it. The Vampires we're able to still interact with the Doctor in Fenric.

Any idea on when in the month this is coming out? Just realised I haven't actually pre-ordered it yet! Next week. Given they normally release the Short Trip at the end of the month but released it early this time, I'm guessing this will be the last release of the month on Friday or Saturday - but no actual knowledge

Podcast tomorrow should give us more of a headsup.

Apologies. If you copy and paste the entire thing into your browser it should work.

Thursday then, marvellous. I'm looking forward to hearing a solo Fourth Doctor story, particularly as it's between The Deadly Assassin and Face of Evil, so should hopefully have that gothic horror touch.
It's nice to have a story from Big Finish that slots into that gap in the Fourth Doctor's tenure too.

They should have used the Vashta Nerada's iconic look. Anybody unfamiliar with this set who sees that picture will think it's an entirely new creation.

I presume you mean the Silence in the Library white suits, which would make no sense being used again unless these stories feature the same suits. I wouldn't say they're particularly iconic tbh.

I presume you mean the Silence in the Library white suits, which would make no sense being used again unless these stories feature the same suits. I wouldn't say they're particularly iconic tbh. It's the look most people identify with the Vastha Nerada. It's bizarre that they're not using it.

It's the look most people identify with the Vastha Nerada. It's bizarre that they're not using it. At no point in either story is anyone wearing a spacesuit of that kind. So it wouldn't have made sense to feature them on the covers. I think using the words 'Vashta Nerada' multiple times across the packaging is probably enough.

The five days picture would look less odd if it at least said 'Vashta Nerada' somewhere on it.

I'd say the walking skeletons are more than enough visual to associate with the Vashta Nerada.

Maybe it should have a skeleton in *a* spacesuit, just not necessarily the library ones.

My theory is that the rules changed after the Doctor saved Gallifrey in Day of the Doctor. After that, it became possible for him to meet pre-war Time Lords. After all, he did just run into the First Doctor on TV. Post-War Doctors were meeting Pre-War Doctors before Day Of The Doctor. "Time Crash" had Five and Ten v1 meet up. On the audio side, "Kingmaker" mentioned Nine stepping into Five's timeline, though he avoided crossing paths. Plus Eleven sent everyone but War targeted messages in "Destiny Of The Doctor." It's been a while since I heard that, but the sources I can site (Tardis Wiki, Bradley's Basement) put that happening before "Day Of The Doctor." The way that River popped in and out of Doom Coalition bothered me; I've only listened to it once and so maybe I missed an important detail, but the fact that she kept on randomly meeting pre-Time War Gallifreyans seemed to imply that the 9th, 10th, and 11th Doctors could have done so as well? Like, whenever they got lonesome they could have jumped to a planet where pre-Time War Gallifreyans had a survey expedition or whatever, and thereby gotten a taste of the old culture? Since the Doctor never had that option, it would seem that all pre-Time War Gallifreyans, anywhere in existence, were also isolated by the Time Lock? It does seem to make sense to me, in-continuity, that events (and creatures created by events) that are Time War related or that specifically come from the post-Time War universe should be isolated away from the pre-Time War universe, by virtue of the Time-Lock... Maybe I'm thinking in fan-canon, but doesn't The Eye Of Harmony normally prevent the Tardis from letting the Doctor pop in and out of his past? Under 'normal' circumstances, that is. No Time Scoops or sentient superweapons or showrunners who really really like going back to visit the First Doctor? River uses a Vortex Manipulator and is free from any timeline-synch enforced upon Time Lords by the EOH or other Tardis safeties. She may not set out to meet earlier Doctors, but once she bumps into one and knows where he is she can choose whether or not to 'play' with him (re: keep following him through his story). As for how she keeps bumping into them at all, here's my hypothesis... Nature abhors a vacuum, even one in time. River created one she shattered the Doctor-centered fixed point at Lake Silencio. Eleven resolved that, but for River there were still consequences. Her timeline got sucked into the 'time hole' as it closed all timey-wimey like to fill in any paradoxical gaps. I'd liken it to pouring resin into a windshield; the stuff spreads out everywhere at once to fill the cracks.

That one is much better as there is no question that is the Empress of the Racnoss.
