The name may be unfamiliar but the face and her work isn't. She's been in some high profile series such as Broadchurch, Wired, Black Mirror, Cranford, as well as a few British films, including the sci-fi alien, Attack The Block. I'm not claiming she hasn't got experience. Jodie Whittaker will be obscurr to the casual audience, but they can advertise her as 'Broadchurch star Jodie Whittaker'. But you did claim she was a bit part actor which is wrong.

Jodie Whittaker's moment of glory didn't last long as she's plunged in the Odds now. On the positive side Paterson Joseph has shot up to second place behind the unmovable lump of blandness. Still think it's a leak because she came from nowhere, then suddenly the BBC start announcing a reveal.

No - I already told you that was just not true and I know that because I've actually, y'know, watched it. She's not got a small part in Broadchurch. She's got probably the third largest part in the show over the 3 series. Beth Latimer has a huge part that is integral to the show and she's in every ep. Sure, Tennant and Colman are on the DVD covers and marketing but what you're saying would be like saying Eve Myles has a small role in Torchwood.

Wyclef, not Wycliffe. I'm not normally one to pick someone up on semantics but one is the co-leader of one of the best bands of the 90s and the other an aging TV cop from Cornwall. Besides....Lauryn Hill would be better!

No. How do you study TV and not know Broadchurch, one of the biggest shows in the UK Zeitgeist? She's not a bit part player in the slightest. Neither was Matt Smith. Supporting roles are not the same as bit parts. Again...shouldn't that be taught to someone wanting to make telly? I've heard of Broadchurch and Attack The Block, my impression was just that Jodie Whittaker plays more of a bit part in them. Whittaker has a huge part in Broadchurch and was very good in it.

Looking at that list just shows how ridiculous these odds sites are before the last day or two. I mean half the people on the list are already signed for other shows and movies that would take them out of logical contention, because anyone taking over the lead in Doctor Who has to surrender pretty much their whole dance card for the foreseeable, or would be expected to. Once production dates and outside commitments are nailed down, they might be able to slip in the odd other thing here and there, but anyone that is already signed to a recurring TV gig or has major film roles still to shoot coming up just isn't realistically a chance.

Somebody's going to lose a lot of money. He said he quit Death In Paradise to spend more time with his family. He didn't really say that at all, I don't know why people keep saying that. He told the Radio Times it was because his son was now school age and he wanted the lad to go to school in the UK. His family went with him to the Carribean to film DiP each year yet every time a Who fan mentions it they regurgitate the same nonsense about him being lonely without his family...they were with him! www.radiotimes.com/news/2017-07-14/kris-marshall-says-goodbye-to-death-in-paradise--and-explains-why-he-had-to-leaveNow that wouldn't be an issue if he were to be cast as The Doctor, so the "family" excuse doesn't hold water. Well, no, he does explicitly say the fact his son reached school-age is why his family could no longer join him in the Caribbean, so it is definitely true he quit - and was always going to quit - Death in Paradise this year for that reason. Him quitting has nothing to do with whether or not he's the 13th Doctor, so there's definitely a chance he could be, but... I hope not... C'mon Phoebe Waller-Bridge! I know, I know, it's not her, but... I want... I WANT SO MUCH. So much awesome would be happening if it were her. Damn her for having an exciting career being her own boss! Every actor alive should do whatever I say and the writers should shit gold and nothing should ever make me unhappy because that's what I want! ARGH! Oh, man. Thank god the wait is almost over. I'll give whoever it is a very good chance, and honestly, I can't imagine I'll stop watching no matter who's Who

I wasn't referring to experience, I was referring to your claim that you think you think she's obscure, generally. I said her name may be obscure but her face is most definitely familiar in the land of TV and film. But then I don't stick to one genre and prefer to have an eclectic taste in television and film. Marchlands was a very much talked about ghost/mystery drama a few years ago.
