Thinking about it more, I still don't understand the thought process behind doing narration - they tried it in 3DA Vol 1 and it wasn't popular so I don't know why they're doing it again. Sure, it's because they don't have the original actor playing the Doctor, but that's why the CCs range was invented. And that's why they call these Doctor Chronicles, because it isn't the companion narrating.

There will almost certainly be a free excerpt available in May so everyone can have a listen before buying. I'm intrigued to see exactly how they're pitched.

While I have some mixed feelings about Nick Brigg's over-exposure in writing, his acting and performance skills are not in question for me. I'll certainly give the 9th Set a go at least. He did a superb War Doctor in Engines of War. He's my favourite audiobook reader so I'm not concerned. He was really good in Engines of War. When its been a respectful amount of time since John Hurt's death, I hope they include Briggs' War Doctor in this series.

Briggs does a good interpretation of Eccleston, I've pre-ordered this box set, again here Big Finish take my Lizzie Windsors.

I'm surprised by how mixed the reactions to this announcement have been. My thoughts on the situation are this: 1. Big Finish have only ever recast roles when the original actor could not or did not ever wish to return to the role. To recast, then have the original actor decide to join up later down the line, *could* be seen as slightly offensive. This way it can't look "incriminating" in that each Doctor has been covered by the same person. The fact that it is Nick is pretty irrelevant. This brings me to my next point; 2. If it wasn't Nick, they'd still need to use the same person for each set, as I've outlined is point 1. Nick is a relatively well known name in most Doctor Who circles, and though he is a busy man who seems to be in just about everything, if he can do the job, I say let him do it! 3. I think it's reasonably clear at this point why we aren't getting Companion Chronicles style releases; judging by the guest cast in this, Billie Piper does not appear to be involved with Big Finish, which makes it quite difficult to make an extensive range of Ninth Doctor and early Tenth Doctor stories (unless they were to use Camille Coduri or Noel Clarke; John Barrowman would also work, but with both Torchwood and The Lives of Captain Jack, he may feel he's doing enough at the moment). Nick also said in a podcast (about six months or so ago I think) that Freema Agyeman had been approached and also said she wasn't interested in reprising Martha at the moment. This leaves Catherine Tate to cover the Tenth Doctor era and, while I doubt too many people would complain about a Donna Chronicles box set, Big Finish like to provide more variety than that. In short, I think these releases are the best way to get new stories featuring these Doctors out there. In time I expect we'll get Companion Chronicles as new people agree to come back, but until then I think these will be a good way to get back into these Doctors' eras Agree with 90% of this. They could have got different people to do each set though, I think that's the problem some people are feeling. To me, well I'm sure Nick will do a better 9 than Ian McNeice does so I bet these will be fine. I think it should be Bruno Langley and Camille Coduri narrating two Ninth Doctor stories each, Catherine Tate and Bernard Cribbins for two Tenth Doctor stories each and Alex Kingston and Arthur Darvill for two Eleventh Doctor stories each.

I wonder if Rose will just be away for all of these stories, or if Camille or a Nick will be doing her voice. I'm not holding out hope for a surprise announcement that they got Billie Piper, but it would be amazing if they did.

Ordered the 9th set, 9 is my favorite new doctor and the Night of the Whisperer was my first Big Finish story!
Not sure about the other 2, I will decide closer to the time.

Billie has said on many occasions she is done with rose....no more returns! so I doubt she will be involved for a long time if ever.

I've pre-ordered the bundle as I'll give anything a try and I'm sure Big Finish will make a good job of it.
I really would rather Big Finish concentrate on Classic Who whilst we still have the wonderful actors who made it truly special though. There will be plenty of time to explore the full potential of New Who of many years to come...

The Ninth Doctor Chronicles makes perfect sense to me. The Night of the Whisperer was very well received and I know from the Engines of War audiobook what a fantastic reader Nick Briggs is. If I am honest the thing that puts me off this release are the guest cast - I would have rather they had branched out away from those existing adventures.
And I hope that in the future this range can in compass The Chronicles of the War Doctor.
However I am disappointed with the notion of Doctor Chronicles for Ten and Eleven.
If David Tennant wasn't available/ready to do more I had hoped that the rumoured Jenny, the Doctor's daughter range might have happened. With Jenny looking for her father (a nod to the Eighth Doctor series that never happened). A Daughter's Odyssey. It would have the potential of her meeting other characters from the Tenth Doctor's era, especially if she keeps arriving places after he has been there. Perhaps it can also include characters from the Classic series - The Meddling Monk comes to mind!
And as for the Eleventh Doctor we already have series with a major character from his era. River Song encountering the Silence and Madame Kovarian would really link her own range back to her time on television.
Plus of course they all have the Winston Churchill stories. I appreciate they are somewhat finite, but that series could branch out to other famous figures and call it something like - Recorded History

And I hope that in the future this range can in compass The Chronicles of the War Doctor. I'm not sure how I feel about more War Doctor stories, a chronicles range would effectively be recasting the part, I've heard good things about Nick Briggs Hurt impression (and there's at least one near perfect fan impression on youtube) but would it be a tribute to Hurt and the War Doctor or a replacement? Hurt had such limited performance time as the Doctor you'd run the risk of the successor actor usurping Hurt as the actor people think people of when the War Doctor is discussed, and the Time War is such a mysterious part of Whoniverse history I'm not sure I'd even want it to be explored much further, there isn't really a War Doctor era beyond Hurt himself, so they'd effectively be creating a brand new chapter of Who without its Doctor. I think the future of the War Doctor would be better served in novels, comics and short trips rather than full/limited cast audios, but it's far too early to even think about that we don't know how firm or open ended Casualties of War will be.

Do we know if the Jenny Who range is still on or not? Not Exactly
Nick Briggs latest response to an update on it in last weeks Podcast was.
"I could've throttled PD for saying that"
So short answer I guess is we still don't know,
