Later this year and beyond, we chronicle some times and places for the Ninth, Tenth and Eleventh Doctors...
Unveiled today are three forthcoming four-story sets: Doctor Who - The Ninth Doctor Chronicles, Doctor Who - The Tenth Doctor Chronicles and Doctor Who - The Eleventh Doctor Chronicles, featuring all new stories with narration from Big Finish Executive Producer and Doctor Who actor Nicholas Briggs.
Ninth Doctor Chronicles co-producer Scott Handcock comments: "It’s been a treat to work with such a incredible team on bringing the Ninth Doctor back to life! David Richardson and Matt Fitton have assembled a fantastic team of writers, opening with a brilliant new story from Cavan Scott, whose acclaimed work on the Ninth Doctor comics made him an obvious choice."
"And as anyone who’s heard the Destiny of the Doctor range will already know, Nicholas Briggs makes for the ideal reader, ably assisted by some strong supporting voices, with Camille Coduri and Bruno Langley reprising their roles as Jackie Tyler and Adam Mitchell. Throw in Helen Goldwyn’s precise direction, and we have four stories that feel as massive as anything seen on screen! With more to come…"
Nicholas Briggs adds, "The fun of doing these releases for me is that it’s a big performance challenge, and a chance to build on what I’ve learnt from doing some of the Doctor Who audiobook readings for AudioGo and BBC Audio. In those, I’ve been lucky enough to do the voices of the Ninth, Tenth and Eleventh Doctors, with, flatteringly, some success and recognition. So while we’re waiting to one day hopefully make full-cast adventures with these Doctors, we thought a good way for us to explore these more recent eras of the programme would be to have me performing them as enhanced readings, with guest voices too."
"So far, we’ve recorded the Ninth Doctor stories, and it’s been a real blast, particularly working with Camille and Bruno. I’ll be polishing up my Tenth and Eleventh Doctor voices for the upcoming releases. I’m not a mimic or an impersonator, although I’ve always had fun capturing the essential spirit of people’s voices, so that’s what I’m doing here. There’s no way you’ll mistake my performances for the actual Doctors in question, but my hope is that you’ll be in no doubt which Doctor is speaking. I also hope that my genuine affection for these great actors and Doctors shines through."
Doctor Who - The Ninth Doctor Chronicles is released in May, and casting and story details can be found on the webpage. There will be much more information across all three volumes in coming months, including release dates for the Tenth and Eleventh Doctor versions, which will be out in 2018. Each volume can be bought separately for £20 on Download or £23 for a CD version which unlocks download files in your Big Finish account.
Pre-order Bundles are available, collecting Doctor Who - The Ninth Doctor, The Tenth Doctor and The Eleventh Doctor Chronicles together for £55 on Download or £66 on CD, going up to £80 and £100 respectively when all three are released.

Nicholas Briggs recently voiced the Seventh Doctor in free Doctor Who - Short Trip Forever Fallen by Joshua Wanisko, which can be found here.

Nick Briggs IS the Doctor. Three of them. Will they meet the Daleks, or the Ice Warriors, or The Sea Devils, or the Cybermen? Will Nick voice everything? Will he be writing some? I can't take this seriously.
This is far too much Nick Briggs. One can only take so much. I wish them luck with this, but this is really not for me.

I am definitely in for these! Nick Briggs IS the Doctor. Three of them. Will they meet the Daleks, or the Ice Warriors, or The Sea Devils, or the Cybermen? Will Nick voice everything? This is far too much Nick Briggs. One can only take so much. I wish them luck with this, but this is really not for me. It's (essentially) a series of Companion Chronicles releases. Those are generally read/narrated with one actor performing all the roles anyway, so not sure what the issue is?

The fact that they have announced these, but TDAs Vol 2 hasn't been announced yet makes me worried.

As I say, I wish them luck with this.

Well I didn't expect that! I'm not sure how I feel about it either. I don't mind Nine/Ten/Eleven chronicles, in fact I'm desperate for them ... but not sure of the wisdom of Nick doing the Doctor in them? Surely they could get the actors who appeared in the series to voice the doctor (as per the original CCs)? It strikes me a bit like "we aren't getting the actors to reprise Nine/Ten & Eleven" and we want it to be different, so we'll just get Nick in to do the voices. It begs the question, "Why break a working system?". I bet Camille could do a pretty good Nine, hell get Barrowman back in.
Don't get me wrong, I like Nick ... never met him, but I like him but doesn't he have enough to do already? What does this mean for the Prisoner Vol 2?
I'll have to think about this. I might just wait.
Damn. I hate being negative about these ...
Cheers
Tony

The idea is fine - narrated adventures for recent Doctors - but the execution? Not too sure about that; the price seems off too. Lovely for those who are interested, however, but I don't think these are for me.

I was quite impressed by Nick's 9th Doctor impersonation in 'Night of the Whisper', so the Ninth Doctor set is very tempting. Just have to wait for a bit more info before I splash the cash.

The only thing that excites me about this announcement at the moment is Bruno Langley coming back as Adam. But is there a gap between Dalek and The Long Game? Because it seemed to me that was Adam's only trip in the Tardis. Maybe the story is set after The Doctor drops him back home?
I'm really hoping Arthur Darvill will be getting involved in the Eleventh Doctor stories. And maybe Lady Christina De Souza for the Tenth's. I imagine it will be Jack and Jackie though.

I'm genuinely excited for these I'm all for new stories, in pretty much whatever way I can get them (particularly those featuring the Ninth Doctor)! I'm looking at these as essentially Churchill Years 0.5 - you have one actor relaying the story and voicing the Doctor, the only difference here being that they have significantly fewer cast members. Also, the inclusion of Adam definitely has my interest piqued...

As ever with these things, I checked with Russell, and he confirmed there was room between Dalek and The Long Game for a few more trips... provided he didn't end up anywhere as overwhelming as Satellite 5, obviously.

It's (essentially) a series of Companion Chronicles releases. Those are generally read/narrated with one actor performing all the roles anyway, so not sure what the issue is? Can't argue with that, but it might be a good time for me think things over and be careful I don't mistake my sizable disappointment at the thought of CE, DT and MS apparently not doing anything for Big Finish through 2018, for disappointment at Nick doing these. Not quite sure what to think of that actually. Hopefully these will be brilliant because otherwise he will probably never hear the end of it :-) What might be good to listen to, to try to get an idea of what this might be like? The news item mentions Nick has done 9, 10 and 11 for audios before but I'm not familiar with any of those (and apparently search engines hate Nick because his name is not even pulling up Engines of War at Audible or Amazon for me). I'm certainly hoping I'll like the format and the performances, because having anything Ninth Doctor at Big Finish is fantastic really.

I'm definitely going to get the Ninth Doctor Chronicles, but I'll wait until we know more about the other two sets - and after I've listened to the first - before I commit to buying them. The writers for the Ninth Doctor Chronicles have me excited, though!

What might be good to listen to, to try to get an idea of what this might be like? They're very much in the vein of Destiny of the Doctor, so Cavan Scott and Mark Wright's Night of the Whisper might be a good start?

I imagine a few trips on and around earth then? I find it hard to believe that Satellite 5 was THAT exciting if he'd been travelling off to different planets and solar systems. I'm going to have to re-watch the two episodes beforehand to get my head around it I think.
