I never loved the Companion Chronicles. I always prefer the stories to be as close to full cast as possible. Hopefully they'll be able to get as many companion actors in as possible.
I wonder when the story with Adam will be set. I'm pretty sure that it was stated that Satellite Five was Adam's first trip in the TARDIS. I'm guessing it will be after that, in a story that may or may not contradict Prisoners of Time.

While I have some mixed feelings about Nick Brigg's over-exposure in writing, his acting and performance skills are not in question for me. I'll certainly give the 9th Set a go at least.

That's how I fee as well. Although I would also have like more of a Companion Chronicles style range, I can see how it would be difficulty to get many of the main Companions of the New Series Doctors to commit. Many of them are working a lot and in other countries. I'll give this a shot.

In light of this can anyone remind us why they ended the Companion Chronicles but started releasing Short Trips instead? I'm not sure how poor sales on the CCs would justify restarting the Short Trips range, except for the difference between a £12 and £3 price point. (Side note: when Short Trips are only half the length, how does Big Finish get away with charging quarter the price? Surely that means the Short Trips are under-priced or CCs are overpriced? And if the former how does Big Finish justify bringing Sheridan Smith back for two Short Trips 5 years after her exit story?) I think at least part of the reason is that the Short Trips range is download only. They don't have to add the cost of making a physical product to their price point.

I hope it happens before 2018. I can't wait that long for more David Tennant! I'm too impatient. Put yourself in a Classic Who fan's shoes, three years is nothing compared to 16! Waiting 16 years for more from my favourite Doctor would force a regeneration on me.

As a child of the new series (I grew up with these doctors and the 11th doctor is my doctor) I'm pretty pleased with these and bought the cd bundle of all 3 immediately I'm that excited.
Yes I would prefer full cast stories but it seems big finish are unable to make those at the moment for various reasons so these are the next best thing.
I would rather have stories with these doctors right now, than wait 5, 10 maybe even more years than wait for full cast ones, and as long as they at least try and get as many original cast members (which I'm sure they are) I ain't complaining. 😁

I don't remember them ever saying the Short Trips were in place of the Companion Chronicles. And the companion chronicles have not ended

I would like to see the new doctors incorporated into the Short Trips. 11 doctors, 11 months and a Christmas special.

I saw the announcement on BF's website, and I saw the picture, and I hate that character in the picture, I couldn't tell you the actors name, though. So on first sight, I was turned off. Will I buy it? Hell yes I will! Will it be good? Hell yes it will, it is BF after all. I am a little worried that BF is placing to much time and effort into the new series. I get much more excited about news from the real series, I mean original series.

It's just a matter of the wording I guess.

Thinking about it more, I still don't understand the thought process behind doing narration - they tried it in 3DA Vol 1 and it wasn't popular so I don't know why they're doing it again. Sure, it's because they don't have the original actor playing the Doctor, but that's why the CCs range was invented.

I think I'll go ahead and add Ninth Doctor Chronicles to my wishlist, I don't think it will hurt to give it a try at least (and I am all for more Ninth Doctor stories that fall within my limited canon of TV + Big Finish). Nothing against Camille (what a cutie!) but I hope she isn't going to have to make up the bulk of the New Series companions all by herself. I'd probably be outright thrilled about this already (as opposed to "cautiously optimistic") if I heard they'd landed Noel Clarke.

In The Kingmaker Stephen Beckett sounded a lot like Eccleston (you can hear it in the trailer).

If they were a full-cast, they'd probably not have narration, but these are literally just New Series Companion Chronicles, similar to the Destiny of the Doctor releases.

I now have this image of the 60th Anniversary release being Nick by himself in a studio doing all the voices, while directing and recording lol I wonder what his Billie Piper impression sounds like? His rendition of "Because We Want To" is spot on from what I've heard.

Rather brilliant that the same story had John Culshaw do a few lines as the Fourth Doctor. A great gag indeed!

I'm surprised by how mixed the reactions to this announcement have been. My thoughts on the situation are this: 1. Big Finish have only ever recast roles when the original actor could not or did not ever wish to return to the role. To recast, then have the original actor decide to join up later down the line, *could* be seen as slightly offensive. This way it can't look "incriminating" in that each Doctor has been covered by the same person. The fact that it is Nick is pretty irrelevant. This brings me to my next point; 2. If it wasn't Nick, they'd still need to use the same person for each set, as I've outlined is point 1. Nick is a relatively well known name in most Doctor Who circles, and though he is a busy man who seems to be in just about everything, if he can do the job, I say let him do it! 3. I think it's reasonably clear at this point why we aren't getting Companion Chronicles style releases; judging by the guest cast in this, Billie Piper does not appear to be involved with Big Finish, which makes it quite difficult to make an extensive range of Ninth Doctor and early Tenth Doctor stories (unless they were to use Camille Coduri or Noel Clarke; John Barrowman would also work, but with both Torchwood and The Lives of Captain Jack, he may feel he's doing enough at the moment). Nick also said in a podcast (about six months or so ago I think) that Freema Agyeman had been approached and also said she wasn't interested in reprising Martha at the moment. This leaves Catherine Tate to cover the Tenth Doctor era and, while I doubt too many people would complain about a Donna Chronicles box set, Big Finish like to provide more variety than that. In short, I think these releases are the best way to get new stories featuring these Doctors out there. In time I expect we'll get Companion Chronicles as new people agree to come back, but until then I think these will be a good way to get back into these Doctors' eras Agree with 90% of this. They could have got different people to do each set though, I think that's the problem some people are feeling. To me, well I'm sure Nick will do a better 9 than Ian McNeice does so I bet these will be fine.
