And I hope that in the future this range can in compass The Chronicles of the War Doctor. I'm not sure how I feel about more War Doctor stories, a chronicles range would effectively be recasting the part, I've heard good things about Nick Briggs Hurt impression (and there's at least one near perfect fan impression on youtube) but would it be a tribute to Hurt and the War Doctor or a replacement? Hurt had such limited performance time as the Doctor you'd run the risk of the successor actor usurping Hurt as the actor people think people of when the War Doctor is discussed, and the Time War is such a mysterious part of Whoniverse history I'm not sure I'd even want it to be explored much further, there isn't really a War Doctor era beyond Hurt himself, so they'd effectively be creating a brand new chapter of Who without its Doctor. I think the future of the War Doctor would be better served in novels, comics and short trips rather than full/limited cast audios, but it's far too early to even think about that we don't know how firm or open ended Casualties of War will be. It wouldn't be a recast though. It would just be Nick doing the narration, and filling in Hurt's dialogue as part of it, similar to the Early Adventures.

Way too soon right now. Yet it's exactly what he did on Engines of War. I don't see why it would be different now. A way to do it might be to have it be a series of stories straight after Night of the Doctor. This would make it the young War Doctor, not the weary old one played by Hurt.

I have to say I'm not too interested in narrations. I never got the Destiny of the Doctor series for that reason. So I'm not going to rush to buy this, either. I'm sure Nick will be good, I've enjoyed the stories I've heard him read/narrate. I'm just not enthralled with this particular format. And Adam is a character I have no interest whatsoever in revisiting. If the stories get great reviews and/or the trailers sound interesting, I may change my mind. We'll see.

I thought maybe John barrowman might have featured in the Ninth Doctor Chronicles, I'll wait until I've listened to the box set before commented further.

I wonder if Rose will just be away for all of these stories, or if Camille or a Nick will be doing her voice. I'm not holding out hope for a surprise announcement that they got Billie Piper, but it would be amazing if they did. Billie has said on many occasions she is done with rose....no more returns! so I doubt she will be involved for a long time if ever. Janet Felding said she'd only do one Big Finish (The Gathering) but has since returned to the role for Big Finish & delivered some amazing performances. Sean Connery was done with Bond after You Only Live Twice but came back for Diamonds Are Forever & rogue Bond film Never Say Never Again. Never say never my friend.

I've pre-ordered the bundle as I'll give anything a try and I'm sure Big Finish will make a good job of it. I really would rather Big Finish concentrate on Classic Who whilst we still have the wonderful actors who made it truly special though. There will be plenty of time to explore the full potential of New Who of many years to come... Chriss C. Its not as if there are fewer Classic stories now. You're right that there are plenty of Classic stories, but there is a limit to how many stories can be produced at any one time and the more Big Finish concentrates on New Who, the fewer Classic stories will be able to be made.
Not that I don't love New Who, it just isn't Classic Who which stands in a class on its own...

The new series is a new license for Big Finish though, whereas they've had the classic series for ages. There's only so many ideas they can do.

True, but whilst the current writers are great I feel like if they were to spend more time on classic series audios and devote less to the new series they'd eventually have to employ new writers to keep the ideas fresh and avoid repeating the same themes. No offence to any of the BF writers intended. Even Russell T Davies needed another writer to take over from the showrunning to stop the show becoming stale (although I don't think they should get rid of the current writers).

I think we can all agree that we want fresh, exciting writing and lots and lots of Who, whether it be Classic or New.
We're lucky to have Big Finish methinks!

Do we know if the Jenny Who range is still on or not? Only if Nick can play her!

I think we have to remember that Big Finish are going for a wider audience with these releases. Audio drama is an unknown prospect for many of the wider revival audience and it's understandable that Big Finish would want to recreate their experience of the telivised possible asclose as possible in the absense of many of the main actors of the revival, rather then the Companion Chronicles format. The Companion Chronicles, when they debuted, were playing to a different audience - an audience already well-versed in audio drama, holding strong opinions on the issue of recasts andopen to it's experimental format and also, as fans, more dedicated to alterantive forms of exploring earlier Doctors.
And c'mon, it's Big Finish, we know it's going to be great.

I'm going to hold off on these, mainly because I sometimes need to pay rent and eat.

Hey everyone,
What do we want to see from The Doctor Chronicles? For me, I'm hoping at some point we'll see a new companion for Nine who provides expanded insights into the Ninth Doctor and Rose. (I know, I know, from my broken dream, but it's a starting point

Is there some reason we can't discuss this in the existing thread?
