Joanna Vanderham is a rather impressive piece of casting, I'd have thought.

So these extra discs with interviews...does anyone find them interesting? I do downloads and I rarely listen to the bonus materials, it just feels so self congratulatory and the same every month.

It's rather odd to have an entire disc of extras on a 2-disc story, too...

'The Genesis Chamber' is one of those very rare BF stories I've not been able to get through. Three attempts, and I've not got past episode 2. Most unlike me. Here's hoping this next release is more to my tastes.

They're very good time wasters when you need some background noise and you occasionally get a few interesting anecdotes (my favorite is Lou Jameson describing the experience of dying on the operating table when her appendix burst in the Omega Factor bonus)

Here's hoping this next release is more to my tastes. And you had yet to hit the tough middle stretch... I liked the first two episodes, but thought it would have been improved if episodes 3 & 4 had been condensed into one. Result, a pacier five parter, unconventional though that would have been. It picks up again for the final two episodes but I thought they missed a trick with the motivation of Volor. {HUGE Spoiler} Volor finally turns on his own leader because he wants power for himself. But there were hints that he was 'going native' (as the diplomats used to say) and becoming too close to the humans he was observing. Conversion to the good side would have been a much better motive for his betrayal.

The jokey ones are usually best, 'The Star Men' extras were good for that recently. The best interviews CD I've heard in ages was the one for the Third Doctor Adventures Vol 1, because there was a lot to discuss and explain about the new range, the recasting, etc. and background details on the stories which highlighted points and references I'd missed.

The interviews on the Lost Stories were interesting, as well as the Stage Plays because how they were adapted and the history behind the stories. The round table Companion Chronicle interviews were fun and informative, feeling more like a natural conversation with all the people chipping in rather than the formal one-on-one interview. The recent trend of two actors being interviewed together is interesting, because you get a sense of the dynamic between the actors and what goes on when the microphones aren't on. Peter Davison and Janet Fielding have a mock-antagonistic dynamic, while last month's Fourth Doctor release included a fun conversation between Lalla Ward and John Leeson about K9's collar!

The Torchwood Taped that was included with outbreak were the most interesting and funny extras I've heard on a release

The Torchwood Taped that was included with outbreak were the most interesting and funny extras I've heard on a release I'd love more interviews in that format, where the interviewer nudges the tone and general subject, but lets the interviewees run with the rest. Basically more like the DVD commentaries, with the moderator instead of the interviewer.

I do enjoy the extras on companion chronicles, 4da's or torchwood given that they are short and to the point. Amusing sometimes, but not dragged out for an hour about how much they love the scripts, random people saying they grew up on the show, so and so was their doctor, etc. Or, oh how I love the lunches! 😀

Am I the only one to think this sounds like a rip off of The Awakening?

Do you guys think Marc Platt will include a reference involving space headwear worn by bovine?

I do. I don't find them any less self-congratulatory then any Behind The Scenes feature. If anything, Big Finish comes off as being incredibly modest then most!

It goes more in depth with story inspirations and the overall process than the 15 minute interviews on the Main Range and Fourth Doctor stories.

The previous three stories were all "adapted by Marc Platt", but this one bears the legend "dramatised by Marc Platt".
INTERESTING MAYBE
