Wonder what this’ll mean for any of the pre existing story arcs when it comes to the future Doctor Ranges. I’m thinking mainly for the Sixth Doctor, Flip and Mrs Clarke. News is forthcoming apparently and 6th and Mrs Clarke face The Eleven in a boxset in September Regards mark687

I found it amusing when Nick completely dodged the question about The 3DAs having an Anthology release (like Dalek Universe) as the person who wrote the email wondered if Big Finish would do something like that as she wasnt sure where to start with The 3DAs
Actually, he wasn't sure (it was my email). I may as well ask here then, where should I start with the 3DAs?

The third and fourth volumes are by far the best of the 3DA's so far.

Vol. 4 was my starting point and I really liked these two stories
Although I also enjoyed the first Volume, but I do not mind narration.

Actually, he wasn't sure (it was my email). I may as well ask here then, where should I start with the 3DAs? I'm a big fan of era-authentic 70s Third Doctor stories so for me Vol 3 is still the standout release of the range to date. That Dalek story could practically be an unbroadcast soundtrack, it's brilliant! As is the story about the Horofax, whoever they are...
Vol 5 was a close second with the Brig and Benton back in action.
Vol 4 is also excellent, especially the Cybermen story, but less immediately imaginable as a genuine story escaped from the early 70s. Great story though.
Vol 1 has two very good stories, though it's worth noting the part-narrated style they used makes it a bit of an outlier in the range. But I loved it; my Doctor joined BF, a miracle!
Vol 2 and Vol 6 each have one really good story and one (imo) weaker one. But still well worth hearing. In fact, if there's a bundle...
(It might be worth hanging on until Vol 7 or 8 appears later this year because a sale of some of the early volumes or a bundle extra-discount is always a possibility.)

Well, I'm going to buck the trend and go for vol.2 which is the best in my opinion.

I think this proves, if nothing else, that you should probably look at the sets and pick which one appeals... and go for that. You won’t get a judgement on which story or set is best.

You know how the saying goes, ask ten people their opinion and you'll get ten different answers.
Or as they say on Gallifrey, ask one person their opinion and you'll eventually get thirteen different answers...

Yehbut... two out of two Third-Doctor-is-the-best-Doctor fans put Vol 3 top so that one wins really... Put a Dalek alongside the Monk and Stevo changes his mind. Yes, rather telling the one people seem most happy about is the one least Pertwee-like. No, you make a good point that if you want TV type stories you can imagine Dicks and Letts working on it's separate from just asking about the "best". I've never been one for BF's "it's teatime in Nineteen-Canteen.." approach myself and like it when they move with the times more. We've had the Third Doctor with Iris in the books, we've had Huxley on audio and Scorchies making by far their best appearance in the third Doctor's CC. I'm quite sure none of these would have gotten past sentence one with Terrance Dicks or Barry Letts but I'm glad that BF and the books were willing to expand things radically. Yet others, and there's no right or wrong, do prefer it when they can fit things in comfortably with not just continuity but tone from the TV eras.

Nah, Vol 2 is the least Pertwee-like, at least for the second story - on the extras they compared it not with 70s Who but with 'Ace of Wands' as I recall. And it's not the most highly rated volume is it?! Although 'The Hidden Realm' is a good story, viewed as a story in its own right.

I also prefer it when they move away from trying to replicate the era it came from. I think out of most Doctors the Third era allows a lot more scope of things to do.

Just finished The Rise of the New Humans - my thoughts are on the relevant thread (will post only on specific threads in future to avoid the podcast thread going off-topic). Really loved this, and looking forward to listening to more of the 3DAs. Thanks again to everyone who recommended it!
