Podcasts don't seem to be on new app and old app not working for me. Is there another way I can listen to it? I go to the BF website on my phone and use the link there.

I am about halfway through the podcast and I disagree that Nick's explanation is "sensible." In fact, I became more and more angry the longer I listened to it.
He kept talking about thinking that the problem is that people are trying to "download" their entire library to their device via the app "all at once." Pretty sure no one ever does that unless they only own a few releases. Because I know for sure that my device would not have enough space for my entire library of 1280 releases (if that number is even correct, I'm not even sure at this point). Why would I want to download it "all at once"? I just want to be able to view and download one story at a time, which at this time I can't do.
I think he's misconstruing "download" with being able to view our purchase library on the app without downloading. Which we used to be able to do before this fiasco. Of course, you could never view your entire library at once, but you had a list and you could filter and/or search to find the release you wanted. I don't want it to be "instantaneous" I just want to be able to view any release at all.
At the current time, I can't even view ONE release on the old app, even if I search for it by name.
Nick shoud stick to talking about things he understands about what's wrong, or at least get the right terminology from his tech folks before he goes spouting off about what he thinks is going wrong.
I'm usually inclined to cut Nick a lot of slack, but his comments about the app on this podcast really got me upset.
I do appreciate his apology, but it's clear he has no idea what the actual problem is.
The new app is working for me, at least for the couple of releases I've tried to download, so I'm sticking to that. I'm not scrolling through 1280 releases and hiding them one by one in order to get the list down to 500 so that I can view them on the old app. Who even has the time for that? Cause I sure don't.

Tbh this whole debacle has really just suggested to me that not many people at Big Finish actually use their own website and app. I suspect Nick included.

It's also abundantly clear that none of this was adequately tested before rolling it out. And the rollback is also not successful because it has left us with a non-functional or poorly functioning at best app and a website that has become painfully slow to load. Things weren't perfect before this, but they did work.

Even if so...not knowing the difference between downloading and streaming? Even my 90 year old mum would have a stab at getting that right.. People just accessing their purchases via the app isn't crashing anything - but Briggs vaguely remembers times when a new release crashed the website so just GUESSED that's whats happened here. It's pathetic.

It really seems that as soon as anyone has anything to say about something he is involved with that he disagrees with, he goes on the offensive and tries to explain it away by blaming everyone else.

Sounds like.. everyone needs to write in to the podcast this week and legitimately/politely/constructively explain that what he said isn't correct- and spell it out for him.

I thought it was bad enough that BF was seemingly oblivious about all the problems BEFORE the new app and and site went live... that they (apparently) are still pretty oblivious nearly a month after it blew up in their face is... well, far beyond worrying.

And just to be clear, it's not the difference between downloading and streaming. You have to download a release to the app in order to listen to it. It's the difference between downloading and being able to view on the app the undownloaded content you've purchased. If I can't view it, I can't download it or listen to it. And, as I said above, I'm certainly not downloading it (or even trying to download it) "all at once." That much content would not fit on my phone. As it is, I can't even see it in order to download it.

Totally agree ^ I have no more than 1 Boxset at a time on my phone- when I am 1/2 way through listening to the last story that's when I start downloading something else. In terms of single cd releases, no more than 2-3 at any stage. Once finished, I immediately delete off the app.

So who is writing the chapter on business screw ups 101 for the unauthorized inside look at BF book?

They should have got either an IT person to give an apology or just write it out for Nick to read. No excuse these days to be a luddite. It's a refusal to learn on Briggs' part.
