I've long felt like the "Inferno" universe could have been the Doctor Who version of Star Trek's "Mirror" universe and should have been revisited.
I'm glad they didn't. I prefer it as a bleak vision of a doomed world that the Doctor fails to save rather than some recurring joke.
Yeah, me too. It stands as it is and it works. No need to revisit it. Timewyrm: Revelation has it that The Presdient of Inferno Earth was an alternate Third Doctor (who was given a differnet face by the Time Lords) and that just struck me as overkill.
I notice in Part 1, Kate says UNIT is the “United Intelligence Taskforce.” Isn’t it supposed to be “Unified Intelligence Taskforce,” or am I forgetting a(nother) name change post-RTD?
It's still the United Nations Intelligence Taskforce as far as I'm concerned, original slightly cardboard-looking badge and all. The alleged replacements aren't even proper acronyms!
And if it isn't the U.N. Intelligence Taskforce, who was the Brig talking to on the phone for five years, how did Jo's highly placed uncle (highly placed at the U.N.) wangle her a job to start with and U.N. funding for Prof. Jones and the mushrooms when she left - and what was the Brig doing all those times they claimed he was in Geneva? Taking Doris to Brighton again?!
