No idea who he is but if this is true I think an older male companion can have potential.

You think Chibnall would be better off giving such a pivotal role to someone he's never worked with before? What's so wrong with that? Actors should be allowed the opportunity to audition. You never know what surprises come along. Because - if this story is true - Chibnall will know the way Walsh works, the kind of results he can expect, whether he can adapt well to the pressure Doctor Who's schedules apparently bring, his willingness to get on with co-actors etc. Also, 'jobs for the boys' is an interesting criticism to make of Chibnall when he's just cast the first ever female Doctor!

It is in quotation marks.

No idea who he is but if this is true I think an older male companion can have potential. played the villain in SJA Ep Day of the Clown, generally know as a gameshow presenter, however, he also played the Lenny Briscoe type cop in the Chibnail scripted UK version of Law and Order.

Hello again.
Bradley Walsh? Fascinating if it is true. He as a comedian and an older actor would be a brave piece of casting. He can act, I've seen him in Law and Order and he was also a revelation in Corrie.
Comics often make great actors. Bradley has also been a professional footballer, a presenter and a singer. He has a vast amount of life experience to draw on. I'm sure he would make a very different companion.
Bradley is very busy presenting daytime shows so I doubt if he is the 13th Doctor's new companion. However, if he was offered it, he would go for it.
I having working on a little story which introduces Jodie Whittaker's Doctor. Let's face it, its the only way I'll ever be a show runner! I also was thinking of a comic playing the companion role someone like Adil Ray, Russell Howard, Matthew Baynton, Romesh Ranganathan or Richard Ayoade.
Each of those people will lend themselves to a particular character. I now have to choose which will be my first companion for Jodie Whittaker's Doctor. Such fun.
What's that? Chris Evans to be the new companion...

Forgot about that! He nailed that role, a genuinely creepy villain.

I think he's a great down to earth actor in Law and Order (with Freema and Davison) so I would love this to be true.
Also, he's super creepy in that SJA story he was in. Fingers crossed.

If true, this is so exceptionally bizarre to me that I honestly just can't quite get my head around it right now.
Not saying that is a good thing or a bad thing, particularly, would have to wait and see on that account, but it's certainly unexpected to say the least.

Given that in the last year there was 190 new episodes, as well as 16 celebrity specials, there is no way that he could do both. Not in keeping with the current demands of both shows, anyway. Mind you, he has also been hosting The Chase for closing in on a decade now, so may well be quite ready for a change...

If true, this is so exceptionally bizarre to me that I honestly just can't quite get my head around it right now. Going for a male Donna Noble is probably a better plan than casting some hot young guy; at least for the first female Doctor's first Companion. That said, I find it hard to believe that ITV doesn't have him sewn up contractually for years to come, with all the shows he does for them.

It's in all the papers, whether print or website! But, sadly, it's more "jobs for the boys". The source for every story appears to be The Mirror. So at this moment, it's still little more than speculation.

Which, as we all know, is the bastion of thoroughly researched, high quality and supremely objective journalism. Practically industry leaders.

Bradley Walsh isn't who I would have thought they would go for, but if true it's a smart move. The first female Doctor is a risky if long overdue decision, so a household name like Bradley Walsh would help as a form of reassurance to the audience.

I think that casting Bradley Walsh could alienate more people than casting a female actor to play the doctor.
