If it's true I'm a little gob smacked. I quite like him as an actor, but never liked his presenting skills.

He did do proper acting in "Law & Order UK" which was produced by Chibnall so it's not utterly crazy AND he's a big Doctor Who fan.
But I can't see him walking away from the money ITV pay him that's a lot more than he'd make at the BBC.

I'd temper expectations accordingly, this is The Daily Mirror we're talking about.

Is that like the U.S.'s "National Enquirer" (which has reported "Bat Boy" and "Son of Bat Boy") I'm certain someone who actually lives in Britain can do far better than I can, but I've seen some pretty weird headlines coming out of the Mirror from my Rhetoric studies. Not as bad as The Sun though, which is infamous for "GOTCHA!" being the splash headline when a cruiser was torpedoed and "STICK THIS UP YOUR JUNTA" a bit before that. Don't worry, we've got our own tactless tabloids as well...

I haven't seen any of his previous work so I have no real opinion either way, an older male companion would be a interesting new dynamic, perhaps he has a wife or kid he brings along? My only concern is that they might have cast an older male purely for gender politics to be a bit sexist towards the 13th Doctor and/or being the clueless male that has to be rescued by the tough quirky woman, the last thing they need to be doing with Whittaker is pointing out how different/brilliant she is, just let her be a normal Doctor. This could bea very interesting way to shake up the Doctor/Companion dynamic, but The Daily Mirror isn't exactly trustworthy when it comes to Who news (they were still claiming Kris Marshall was the 13th Doctor days before the announcement)

Well taking into account the usual amount of salt for tabloid stories...
I haven't watched anything Bradley Walsh has acted in, I've only ever seen him present his ITV shows where he's busy making a compelling case for being the most irritating person on the planet.

It's in all the papers, whether print or website! But, sadly, it's more "jobs for the boys".

There’s a horror movie called Alien? That’s really offensive. No wonder everyone keeps invading you.

Well, he's not Bonnie Langford...
(ducks)
(I really had no problem with Bonnie Langford, just the stories she was in - but the fan outrage I'm seeing on twitter is taking me back...)

I need a lie down, they'll announce Anne Hegaty cast as The Rani next. I would be happy to see that. But the dark destroyer as world dominating super villain, would be great....as right git on TV and worse in real world.

But, sadly, it's more "jobs for the boys". I'm confused. Bradley Walsh has worked with Chibnall before, and are buddies.

It's not like he's "just" a gameshow host. It wouldn't be like casting Dermot O'Leary.

You never know what surprises come along.
