I'll be working on a full review for the 2032 podcast(text only likely) but this was just unreal!
I was about 4 episodes into Planet of the Daleks when I first listened to this. Now, I am a connoisseur of Doctors. I will listen to anything with Peter in it but most other Doctors it needs to be strongly in their era and style. For example if I hear a 4th Doctor story that doesn't feel thoroughly and uniquely 4th Doctor I will be unhapy. I'm more forgiving with Peter and Paul as they are favourites but even with them I want to frrl like no other Doctor could do the story I'm listening to.
Wow. This was like an audio serial. Even with all my knowledge and love of the monk Rise of the New Humans was thoroughly Third era. Jo sounds almost just like she did back then and it's uncanny how much Tim sounds like Jon.
It will be the focus of the 2032 review but wow. I could visualise things so well. There's a really emotional moment in Tyrants and I can see Jon Standing on the other side of the room, back to Katy delivering it. And then of course some lighter emotional moments where he's lating down and very close to her. These are apparently set not long before Jo gets married so the Doctor is at his closest to her.
Also since Planet of the Daleks has a major Doctor health scare it made it that much easier to visualise.
It's patently unreal how much he sounds like Jon. I can't get over it. It's magical and has me on the hook for volume 5!

Once in a while you just need a Third Doctor tale.Tim is fantastic at it and Katy .Tyrants of Logic is a great tale but must say. I have enjoyed all of the stories in 3rd Doctor range. Thanks Tim and Katy you take me back in time without a Tardis.

... and it's not an affiliation, the correct word is addiction!

Before this thread gets laid to rest once more I'll dive in with a comment: Finished Volume 4 late last night - really enjoyed both stories, which for me captured the spirit of the Pertwee era well (Vols 1 - 3 are going on the shopping list as a result). As for Tim Treloar..the best compliment I can pay is that for the entire running time of 'Rise of the New Humans' and 'The Tyrants of Logic' I had to keep reminding myself just who I was listening to. He nailed it. Sure, you can hear the small, subtle differences between his voice and Jon's (as you would expect), but regardless of that I easily slipped into feeling I was listening to an unaired story from the 70's. Thumbs up from me. Roll on Volume 5.

It has been a series that really has surprised me that i enjoyed them so much and Tim Treloar really has nailed it Good threads will never RIP 😆

Absolutely loved Rise of the New Humans! Tim Treloar pitches the intonation perfectly and the actual sound is greatly improved from the first set. The Monk is always a welcome addition, I love Rufus Hound’s incarnation. The best Pertwee stories are topical and this is one of them. The ethics the story presents are interesting and you can certainly see both sides of the story.
Brilliant.
