www.bigfinish.com/news/v/war-master-in-unitComing out in May next year, the pressure is on for the War Master to save us all in UNIT – Cyber Reality As you may have guessed from the title, Kate Stewart and the UNIT team will be facing off against the Cybermen in the sixth series of UNIT – The New Series – Cyber Reality. And, as revealed in a Doctor Who Magazine exclusive, Kate Stewart will be forced to rely on the assistance of a new scientific advisor, although not one she can trust… After appearing in his own series and Gallifrey Time War, the War Master – played by Derek Jacobi – will be journeying to Earth. Joining him and Jemma Redgrave as Kate Stewart, are the whole UNIT team: Ingrid Oliver as Osgood, Ramon Tikaram as Colonel Shindi, James Joyce as Josh Carter and Warren Brown as Sam Bishop, with Nicholas Briggs as the Cybermen. Four new missions await the team in UNIT – Cyber Reality. 6.1 Game Theory by Matt Fitton 6.2 Telepresence by Guy Adams 6.3 Code Silver by Guy Adams 6.4 Master of Worlds by Matt Fitton

How exciting. UNIT vs Cybermen is pretty exciting on its own, but then having the War Master in there is that bit extra on top.
They're certainly getting their mileage out of Sir Derek

Well this will be an easy buy. Good to see them using Jacobi so much. Wonder if they'll use new series Cybermen since this is a new series spin-off.

I don't regularly buy this range, but I am very intrigued by the synopsis!

I did not expect this at all. I guess Derek Jacobi must really enjoy doing Big Finish. I hope his Master can be a recurring character.

Is there a specific reason why all of these boxsets apart from the second have had a foe or other elements from the parent show?
I mean, I can't deny I'm excited about having Jacobi as the Master again, but I'd have thought BF would have wanted to establish it as a series in its own right.

mark687 Shouldn't that be: Of Course I must buy this! (I think we must ALL buy this! UNIT and the War Master v. the Cybermen, written by Matt Fitton and Guy Adams. Yes, please.) EDIT: Yes I did know who was writing it really, my typing momentarily didn't.

Same reason River Song's Diaries have all included entries with Doctors presumably.

Jacobi Master and the Cybermen? Instant preorder. That being said... as much as I love old enemies returning, I hope future box sets have original monsters, because it feels like UNIT is relying on established/fan-favourite enemies (aside from Shutdown). Also, I hope that at some point after Encounters we get another box set of standalone stories (or very loosely linked) - a continuing story arc is fun, but I must say I'm looking forward to Encounters just because it seems like they're more standalone adventures.
But, yeah, I'm still very much looking forward to this one.

Love, love, love the idea of the Master being UNIT's scientific advisor.

Matt Fitton and Guy Adams are writing this box set. Thank you! I knew this but part of my typing was still in the Unbound Universe with New Benny 4. Mix and match among my favourite BF writers in any combination you like, it will be excellent!

I’m excited for this one. We’ve had a few stories pairing the Master with the Cybermen in the past few years, but another one is certainly welcome.

Love, love, love the idea of the Master being UNIT's scientific advisor. As do I. This might be the first UNIT set I buy for that very reason.

They're certainly getting their mileage out of Sir Derek Yes it seems like a great package having them both in this boxset. This will be my first UNIT purchase. The synopsis to Gallifrey: Time War sounded to me like The Master would only be in one story, but this boxset makes me think he will feature more...but who knows. Now with this announcement of Cybermen in a May boxset along with a Time Lord villain I do wonder if Big Finish have something different lined up for the March Third Doctor adventure...

Now with this announcement of Cybermen in a May boxset along with a Time Lord villain I do wonder if Big Finish have something different lined up for the March Third Doctor adventure... You could very well be right, but I hope not. I know The Blue Tooth is wonderful and all, but a full cast 3rd Doctor / Cybermen story really needs to happen, and it's needed to happen for a very long time in my opinion.
