Most of Season 8 original footage source is Aussie transmissions maybe there's an additional clearance issue? Regards mark687 I chatted through email to the JB Hifi "Customer Service" area last June in relation to 4th Dr/Season 14. They unsubtly put the blame squarely on the BBC and their "quality decisions" to delay to Australia and cut down even further volumes .. LOL. I will def pre-order this today. I totally didn't see the 1st 3-4 releases which were my fave doctors 4 n 5. Kicking myself still. JB Hifi is basically the "Amazon" equivalent in Australia, they literally killed every other franchise store- there's minimal competition- just enough for it to be "legal and not a monopoly" as per Govt guidelines.

Then in 50 years when the blu-rays are long since obsolete and noone can play them, those cut fragments will be re-discovered in a digital vault, carefully restored, put onto holo-solid-cuboids and sold in the UK as an example of the lost glories of The Collection Season 8.

I'd discovered Doctor Who via omnibus airings in the 80s on PBS. Season 24 was the new season and my chance to get on board with the latest and er...greatest (?).
So yes, I know that it may not stand up as well to stronger seasons that came before and after it, but it still holds a very fond place in my heart. This tweet from Chris Chapman meant a lot to me:

Hello again.
I really enjoyed Mel's Big Finish stories, her stories with the Seventh Doctor: Fires of Vulcan, Red, and We are the Daleks are my favourites.
While, the much-maligned Bang-Bang-A-Boom would be quite at home in season 24, Red is quite a departure and really chilling.

Well I suppose that gets it out of the way - it was always going to be the bottom of my order of preference. But as is the way with these, one has to get them quick or else there will always be that nagging gap on the shelf.
But then, I watched the excellent trailer. This was the last season on air whilst I was still at school. I remember well the optimism and fresh feel of the first episode. The CGI titles and exciting new rendition of the theme. The impressive special effects. I was quite taken by it all at first.
I remember opening a new pack of those 'book' style VHS storage cases bought especially to display the new series. I can still smell the new plastic 34 years on. The sunshine outside when re-watching on playback the next day after school, sound up loud to make the most of the new opening sequence.
So nostalgia wins, and makes this as much of a must have as any other classic series. As much as I can criticise it, it was one of the few on TV when I was a teenage fanboy.
I can remember so clearly, yet the appearance of Bonnie and Sylvester on the trailer, brings home just how long ago it really is. Sylvester is now suddenly an old man, I am a middle aged fan, yet the show is set in amber in my memory, stuck in time, because to the long term fan it has never really gone away. Revisiting these can take me back to that time as if it was only last year, last month. Seeing the VAM interviews and the like however, are always bittersweet these days as it brings home that even this, very late era of the classic series, was far longer ago than I tend to appreciate.
Pre-ordered yesterday and very much looking forward to it.

Hello again.
Daver, there is definitely for me a similar sense of bittersweet memories and how long ago? I was 14 when series 24 aired in black and white. It was difficult to appreciate the titles but it was very different to the old starfield effect. That trailer, brought it all flooding back. So, much wrong but at the same time so much to enjoy. The Rani, the Kang's language, the nasty Rezzies,Richard Briars (ep. 1-3) would have been better without the moustache, a homicidal robot round every corner, the fifties soundtrack in Delta, Gavrok, Ray, finally a more trad. Doctor Who story, the coin scene, a icy villain, Glitz, Ace and her nitro9 and that lovely end scene where Mel leaves and Ace joins the Doctor.
Althought, would Mel really want to go off with Glitz?! Obviously, it was the start of a Galactic commercial success story...

Zoom is my retailer of choice for these sets usually; already paid for via PayPal, cashback and usually the Friday or Saturday before release.

it really saddens me that The 8th Doctor will probably never get his own Blu Ray boxset Collection with the pretty artwork

Hopefully There are already a few fan mock-ups available online of post S26 Series. Mathew Purchase @thecyberdevil on Twitter is particularly good at doing printable versions, so I would be surprised if he did not produce something totally in 'house style' for those with access to a decent printer, assuming he has not already done so. He has set up a website to make his work accessible, to which he is adding his portfolio - well worth a gander: cyberdevildvd.wordpress.com/That is assuming we do not see a box set materialise for this period. Personally, even as a collector I have so far skipped the Blu-Ray 'upscale' of the TVM, as the master tapes are out there (in a vault or whatever) and it is not insurmountable to reconstruct it with new SFX come the time. Imagine - Dimensions in Time - HD 3D!! Plus those animated online episodes need assembling too.....

Thanks to bloody Brexit I can't preorder anything from Amazon UK anymore, so at least I'll have this version to fall back on if the UK one sells out.

Was just reading that those who’d pre-ordered the Web of Fear from Zoom are being notified of the cancellation of their order, the rumour being Zoom are soon to close down.
It would explain why they didn’t put season 24 up for pre-order.
I only have season 8 to come from them so guess have to hope that that one, just a few weeks away from release, is still going to be honoured by them as, at present, Amazon aren’t showing it as available.

Yeah, I’ve had the Web of Fear BluRay cancelled too that I’d ordered for someone. Managed to reorder via HMV. My order of the steelbook hasn’t budged yet, though. The money for the 50th Anniversary steelbook was taken on Monday and I’m assuming they’ll fulfil Season 8, otherwise I’d have thought they’d have refunded that first. The Web of Fear doesn’t have a set release date, so perhaps they’re going to fulfil pre-orders within the next month or two and then phase out their stock. It’s a shame, though, as Zoom have been great; cashback, discounts, option to pay via PayPal and usually the Friday or Saturday before release.

Latest DWM says Season 24 is provisionally scheduled for April. I think May is probably more realistic, given the usual delays on these sets and also Season 8 going from February to March.
Still, hopefully it means there’s another couple of sets released before the year is out!

Very good service indeed for all the reasons you mentioned.
