There’s a horror movie called Alien? That’s really offensive. No wonder everyone keeps invading you.

In the second century AD, when Europeans knew nothing of either South America or Australia, or the marsupials that lived there, Lucian of Samosota in his "A True Story" wrote about space aliens who had pouches for their children. LOLZ..
Our kangaroos are interesting creatures, there claws will mess you up - however if you let them approach you with a hand full of food they are like puppies.
They must have been confused about the platypus- the only mammal that breeds through laying eggs I love the story about the first platypus specimen being presented at the Royal Society or whatever: it was a stuffed corpse, because it was easier than bringing one back alive, and the consensus was that it was a joke put together from bits of other animals. Nobody believed that it was real.

After centuries of zoological textbooks depicting made-up monsters as factual creatures, when they finally get something really unusual they claim it's made up!
(A little Echidna waves its spines at this thread and says 'I hatched from an egg and I'm a mammal but not a platypus.' )

There’s a mob of kangaroos that live right in the middle of it. I walk my dogs right past them most days and neither group really notices the other any more. Not bad, especially when one of my dogs is an excitable 18-month-old mostly German Shepherd.

My very distant ancestors needed a much bigger boat.
{Spoiler} OK so 150MY ago my ancestors were tiny and had four legs, but that would spoil the joke wouldn't it?

My reviews are becoming more popular on Letterboxd.
My Godzilla Minus One already had 30 likes.
Not bad going for a bipolar manic depressive OCD sufferer.

...about the history of chocolate (specifically what we'd call 'drinking chocolate') in the UK
But they didn't mention the most critical fact: Don't make & drink chocolate tete-a-tete with an Aztec lady or she will think you're up for marriage!

... that before the advent of the model T, a third of all cars sold in America were fully electric rather than petrol powered!

Writing nerdery: Kishotenketsu, the Asian counterpart to the West's three act story structure. It helps explain what gives Studio Ghibli, among others, their unique flavour as stories.

Interesting - if I've understood Wiki correctly (start , process, crescendo, result) then is this poem by Tu Fu an example?
I've liked it for a long time, but never knew the structure had special cultural significance:
'Silver candles, autumn night, a cool screen,' Soft silks, a tiny fan to catch the fireflies. On the stone stairs the night breathes cool as water. I sit and watch the Herd-Boy and the Weaving-Girl.'
(The two characters referred to in the last line are the stars generally known as Altair and Vega.)

Is "Colonel Faraday" from the 4th Doctor story "The Android Invasion" the same "Michael Faraday" from "The Four Doctors" subscription only cd?

No...Michael Faraday is real - he's the father of Electromagnetism - what do they teach in Aussie science classes? But he was mentioned in Mark Of The Rani, and there was a Faraday Cage in Before The Flood. Colonel Faraday was just Patrick Newell (Mother from Series 7 of The Avengers) playing a re-written Brig since Nick Courtney was working on a touring play at the time.

I did final year high school Biology in 1992.. Science teacher in 189 and 1990 was OBSESSED with whales.. so that's what we did.. LOLZ.
Ahh. So Faraday is just a very common name "Who" wise..

I don't profess to be an expert on Kishotenketsu, but given when Tu Fu was writing and it originating in Chinese poetry, it certainly seems likely.

Kevin Smith's accounts are priceless. He had a series of "An Evening With.." affairs. On one, he'd just been in Die Hard 4 with Willis and loved it. Great times, fab stories. Timothy Olyphant was a douche on the set. Willis liked Smith so much he said he'd love to work for him. Which led to....Cop Out. The next Smith Audience Witj DVD has a long section on that and fair to say the stories....bit less flattering.

If you've ever wondered, beside the aphasia, what it was like to make a latter day Bruce Willis movie... I watch the videos from the "Red Letter Media" guys. Very funny but also very constructively harsh on movies. These are the guys who were $ued by George Lucas over their "Phantom Menace" review- which was about as long as the movie itself and MUCH MUCH more entertaining. They won the $uit of course..
They were the very 1st to call out that something was "wrong" with Bruce. All these "direct to" movies like the good ol' days of the 80's when I used to rent them every week from the video store.. They immediately noticed the ear piece feeding him lines, being filmed from a certain angle only to try to hide it and most importantly.. The obvious cutting of scenes, Bruce wasn't in most of the scenes with other actors (Much like The Rock and Vin Diesel in 1 of those F N F movies).
I should point out they weren't teasing Bruce, they were discussing there must be an issue of some type - they even discussed his $fee$ for these movies too.
