I was expecting it would be good, but not THAT good. I am genuinely impressed by how cinematic Series 11 feels like it's going to be. JJ Abrams' cinematographer, a VFX company who have worked on a load of massive blockbuster films (Double Negative), rumours that Hans Zimmer has composed the theme tune, and now this logo. It's so eye-catching and pretty. And that reveal video is just the very definition of 'epic'.
If I was a casual viewer seeing that reveal video on television, I'd think "Wow, this show looks incredible!"

Rumour has it Chibnall wants an A-list composer for the theme tune and a more 'TV' name composer for the other music.

Retro electronic sound mixed with orchestration is quite the zeitgeist with contemporary television scores right now. He does weird, otherwordly and ethnic extremely well. He knows bombastic but also knows how to reign it in and not be intrusive, in fact his often minimalistic approach can play over entire scenes and into the next scene and back again without you even noticing that all the while you've been listing to subtle loops and chants as the action and dialogue play out.

The Doctor Who theme tune but every note is a variation of the sound BWARH

Hadn't heard the Hans Zimmer rumour before. He is an amazing original composer so it'd be interesting to see what he'd bring to the theme.
If nothing else it'd give him a chance to redeem himself for his last contribution to Who.

Rumour has it Chibnall wants an A-list composer for the theme tune and a more 'TV' name composer for the other music. OK. But has his name been mentioned or just "A-list composer"? David Arnold composed the 8th Doctor theme for BF while composing for big Hollywood blockbusters - not least the Brosnan and Craig Bond films - I'm sure that counts as A-list...yet I'mnot sure it sold any more CDs for BF though. Likewise I'm not sure Hans Zimmer just remixing the theme would get anyone watching though PR wise it would be a coup, for sure. It's not like Murray Gold's best work was on the show's theme itself - it was his scores during the eps. Hans is a bit Danny Elfman in that he's ended up copying his own sound over and over. Hans' most revered work of the past few years - Dunkirk - was a collaboration with others (and the bit everyone loved was Elgar!) and his Blade Runner 2049 work was actually mostly written by Benjamin Wallfisch - Zimmer was on tour at the time. Time from Inception was certainly a massively influential piece though, it's very much been the sound of most blockbusters of the 2010s. I'd rather have a synthy score, or something different to the orchestral style at least. Clint Mansell's theme for Moon meets Cliff Martinez's Drive score and a little bit of The Chromatics thrown in. Don't worry about it sounding too 2018 - good music doesn't date.

I don't care who the composer is as long as the theme is recognisable as the Doctor Who theme!
