What Was THAT!
(General Public Will watch)
Don't forget they've tried to show this to the biggest audience of the year here, and if Thursday does herald the release of proper footage, that's really weird handling by the BBC surely?

Was that it?
Only 40 seconds longer than the tease yesterday.

Well, I'm glad I'm not the only one who was slightly underwhelmed (And I'm still awake at 2am for this!)

Not terribly exciting, but it's not like they promised a full-on trailer, just a "first look at the new Doctor and friends", which is exactly what that was. IMO, it's still a little too early for a trailer, given that it's 3-ish months away. I get the feeling that if we're going to get any footage, it's going to be at SDCC.

Could we at least have gotten an airdate?
Also I know I’ve been on the fence but shame on you production staff for that was pitiful. Watch it get rationed on YouTube and not because of people who are against jodie

Even though it is a British show made by BBC the first proper trailer will be at SDCC. SHAME ON THE BBC! Although I do not think it is too early for a trailer. Movie trailers come out months before the release date. Dr Who is event telly. I am all for Chibbers keeping things close to his chest but this was terrible. We know what the characters look like. How about showing them in something vaguely resembling an exciting meaningful situation. The leaked footage was better.

The Digital Spy editor tweeted it was going to be a short freshly filmed sequence not footage from the show proper so I was prepared for it to be more of a first glimpse thing like the "Time For Heroes" teasers for Series 10. For what it was...I liked it I mean...it was very, very little - but I liked the very little!

Why did they even bother. Hopefully wont be too long before a proper trailer.

I may be in the minority, but I actually really liked it! Sure, it didn't give much information about the series itself, but it didn't really need to - it had a wonderful feel to it, a feeling I can't quite describe but that is totally Doctor Who to me. For that alone, it's worth it and has gotten me even more pumped for Series 11! (also, the cinematography, colouring, and use of light was simply gorgeous, if this is how the show is going to be filmed I will be in heaven)

Good grief. So, in her first promo, Jodie Whittaker went for a walk in the woods. Now she goes for a walk in the city. Is that all the Doctor's going to do from now on?
I mean, what was the point? Just showing us the characters doesn't tell us anything about them. No broadcast date. What, all joking aside, is the football-watching casual audience member supposed to take away from this?
Futile.

Not just walking though. We got some people sitting down, on chairs. Gripping stuff

Promotion for films and TV are far different, so, yes, films do have trailers months and months in advance, but they also have teasers, which is what this was. But looking over the last few series, ignoring the "Coming Soon..." at the end of Christmas episodes...
S5 - Teaser on 20 February, a proper trailer on 19 March, and The Eleventh Hour premiered on 3 April. S6A - Teaser on 22 March, a trailer on 30 March, with The Impossible Astronaut airing on 23 April. S6B - Teaser on 10 June (a week or so after AGMGTW), with one trailer on 4 August and another on 12 August, with Let's Kill Hitler airing on 27 August. S7A - Trailer on 2 August, with Asylum of the Daleks airing 1 September. S7B - Trailer on 16 March, with The Bells of Saint John airing 30 March. S8 - Trailer on 13 July, and Deep Breath aired on 23 August. S9 - Trailer on 9 July, and another on 12 August, and The Magician's Apprentice airing 19 September. S10 - Teaser on 25 February, with a full trailer on 13 March, and The Pilot aired on 15 April.
So... going by past series, it's too early to be expecting a full trailer. They usually air roughly a month before the series starts...

They delivered exactly what they said they would. If people expected something else, that's on them surely?

I don't know what they promised. The casual audience who tuned into the football won't know what was promised. All we know is what we saw.

Bradley Walsh loves a fish supper, bless him. It's not really meant for us though, is it? It's a small reminded for the public, the not-we, who they want back for Series 11. They don't follow set reports, leaked footage and DWM. For many this'll be the first time they've seen anything in motion since Jodie was unveiled a year ago. This is their first look at the companions, really. I've already seen more than one "Is Bradley Walsh in Doctor Who now?" comment on FB from people who are at best very casual watchers.

"Tune into the World Cup Final this Sunday for the exclusive first look of new Doctor Who and friends." No mention of a Trailer.
