Like was dire, I found it almost as impossible to listen to as The Abandoned. The Abandoned is like a weird fever dream. Definitely needed someone to step in and hold the reins. My copy lived up to its name and went straight in the bin

Gotta admit after a decent opener i felt the remaining stories to be inconsistent, Like in particular annoyed the sh.t out of me with those bloody intrusive ad breaks which took me out the story, whoever thought this a good idea needs there P45, a pity as it had a interesting idea. Overall i rate it a 3/5 Like was dire, I found it almost as impossible to listen to as The Abandoned. It is one of those sets that I will lay to rest and revisit without all the expectations I had

Well, I agree that these ad breaks were pretty awkward. I understand what they were going for, but it just did not work very well.
I listened to a recent example from Black Library (Dredge Runners) which did a similar thing with propaganda broadcasts interrupting the narrative, and that would be an example on how to do it right. Because if done right, it adds to the story, setting and world building.
Dredge Runners is fantastic- it has interesting characters, brooding atmosphere and good pacing.
Not really happening in the Sixie box set, I am afraid.
Timelord might be onto something with the structure. I also think they might not have been bold enough. Warhammer can go full out because the setting is completely over the top, but BF is often held back for some reason.

If they scaled back to 2 or 3 set them 15 minute apart it wouldn't been as jarring but 7/8 way to many & felt pointless filler. I agree needed be bolder.

Quick question for all involved (because story structure is fascinating to me): How much do youo think the 50-minute format was a contributing factor in the more perhaps awkward moments of the boxset? Hypothetically, would something like The Blood on Santa's Claw and Other Stories work better as a post- Trial Six and Peri story in what it tried to do?

Blood Satan Claw worked as it reveal had a great twist that linked throughout the 4 story's i find with this box set 50 minutes don't always work, maybe 70 minutes would've been better to flesh out characters motivations & add more drama to the various storys which the first, second & third would've benefited from.

Hope this is okay, but would anyone want my box set of CDs? I won it in a competition but they very kindly gave me an official download as well. The box set is still shrink-wrapped however it's clear that one of the discs is loose within the packaging. So it'll be as-is. I have no use for the physical media and would rather it go to someone who'd appreciate it. Just let me know and it's yours (I'll be mailing it from the US).

I agree with Timelord that 70 minutes might be just the magic number and while 50mins work on TV, TV has the added bonus of visuals. The audio that I mentioned, Dredge Runners, also has these magical 70 mins and as I said above, it is superior in a lot of aspects.
The short duration is also not the only problem, I really think that when it was clear what they were going for, they should have gone all out and be bold... as it is, it just does not stick together very well.
As for the post Trial Peri period... was this not supposed to be post trial? And I am not sure about Blood on Santas's claw, but I think it would not have worked so well as post trial, because post trial she is supposed to be much more mature and an ex-queen at that, so she would not have settled for that kind of boyfriend to be frank.

It wasn’t an exceptional set of stories which I kind of expected especially for a Box set and did anything really stick with me where I went must relisten to that fast...recent Bernice almost instant .Given I love Peri and six I wanted something post trial more than standard fare...but later listens will perhaps allow me a mellowing and am all for the post Trial Peri Well an all for eating my own words. I had to go revisit and reevaluate this after being reenergised by Pimpernel. I have to say Vanity Trap -Stuart Manning Has really captured me I did have a liking for it originally but have found on revisiting it is SO much more.I have commented on What Are You listening today? Thread. This story really is very very good I feel it would have benefited from being a four part adventure instead of 60 minutes. It has a great cast and a wonderful pairing of Peri and Sixie .Sarah Douglas is excellent as Myrna the fading Hollywood star. It really is a classic mystery story and I would have loved it to have had its own cover glitz glamour and Sixie in Jon Pertwees gear it would have been fantastic. The story very much Sapphire and Steel meets Doctor Who and why not. I guess the expectation of this set preordered so long ago wasn’t it during the anniversary year ?Tainted me somewhat as none of these stories would have been out of place had they been main range...but am going to say for me Vanity Trap is just wonderful WHO ,wonderful Peri and Wonderful Sixie totally engrossed in the mystery. Enjoyed so much am playing it again and am sure I will many times now. rest of the stories will no doubt follow.

Conflict Theory-Nev Fountain
I seriously think my work and Covid also jaded me to this box set as now am actually fully engaged with it...there are a lot of fun scenes in this and confirmation of the Post Trial period that I must have missed first time around. It is a great way of examining The Doctor and Peris relationship and done in a way only Nev can do.I guess it helps that am lying on a couch while listening 😂 if someone was sitting beside me he would be writing “just plain Nuts” 😂 in his pad.
