WINK is going to be very special because Colin Baker has mentioned wanting to square off with the Angels for hilarious reasons, hence the name 'wink.' I think this one will be incredible, especially if they let that old sarcastic Six come around. Other than that, I could have used the releases this year and I could have used one with 9 just to wet the appetite, but I'll live. My thoughts exactly as soon as I saw that. It will be glorious.
But such a loooooooooong wait!

This was an absolute blast to listen to. I had so much fun with it. Four and Ten together had all the chemistry and charm that I was hoping for.
I'm delighted that parts 2 and 3 of Out of Time feature Ten teaming up with two further classic Doctors. Since Tennant joined BF, I've been hoping to hear his Doctor meet other Doctors. It just seemed like something Tennant would love doing and the story about Briggs texting Tennant the idea and getting a quick yes is exactly what I'd expect. He seemed to be having great fun recording this.
It's hard to say if I'm more excited about part 2 or 3, both story hooks and team ups sound marvelous. I think I'll land on part 2 being the one I'm most excited for. My two favorite Doctors in what sounds like a nice, creepy Cyberman story is everything I could ask for.
I wonder if there will be a part 4 of this when McCoy is no longer stranded in France (if he still is, I haven't heard otherwise).

The lockdown was lifted last May for us French people, I wonder if he can travel back to the UK safely. As far as I know, he'll be attending a convention next month in my city.

It's almost impossible to just review this as a story. It's slight, never feels like a particularly dangerous time for anyone concerned given the foes involved and it's awfully quick to be resolved. Yet....none of that matters does it?
It's a lovely little romp built purely around the meeting of the two icons of their respective eras. One of the best parts for me was the rather meta-lines from Tennant about Tom being old-fashioned for loving running in corridors, climbing some scaffolding and crawling through vents...y'know like a 70s BBC budget! Then Tom's line about "I prefer to think of myself as Classic..." - pure fan service wonderfulness.
I'm glad the "John Tyler" thing was dropped just before it got annoying - when the story is already under an hour I want as much as possible to be the characters interacting as themselves.
I loved that they had time to show the difference in not just the incarnations but in New WHo and Classic, with Tom chiding David for his hero-complex (a common fan complaint) and then the scene reminding us of "Do I have the right?". We get both of them putting across their answer without either chasdising the other for naivety or cruelty respectively which was welcome.
And of course....how did we not guess this - these two have Sarah Jane in common. That the story's wrap up features a reference to her "wedding" in the SJA was unexpected but kinda beautiful, not just as a tribute to Lis Sladen but for Tom's Doctor to say "If everyone we meet is like her...friends made, not enemies destroyed, surely that's a better legacy?" Tom tells David to "open the magic door" - how fitting that Tennant is about to enter his first days as The Eleventh Doctor where magic and fairytale innocence would indeed take over and the doom-laden RTD finales would give way to the optimism of Amy Pond in her garden, and The Doctor would indeed get friends again.
So as a Doctor Who story...average. As a meeting of the titans - nigh on perfect. I disagree with those who wish we could get parts 2&3 sooner though. MultiDoctor stories, especially with Tennant being in all 3 should be events, not something periodical. BF have always been very good at restraint in crossing Doctors over and the space between releases will keep that allure going. It might have been nice, since they used the 10th Doctor's theme music at the beginning, to use the Fourth Doc's at the end. Just to give it that joint classic-new feel rather than being a 10 story with an older Doc in it, but I guess that now we know Colin and Peter are doing one, that's the theme, literally and figuratively.

It's a bit difficult to know what to say about this story because it delivered exactly what the cover image promised!
Really enjoyed it. Single disc/single episode format was perfect, guest cast was fantastic (I didn't immediately recognize when actors were doubling up on roles), and I appreciated that...
{the Tenth Doctor hiding his identity from the Fourth Doctor wasn't dragged out for too long.}
It was a lot packed into its running time and didn't feel like bombastic fan-service in the way that Zagreus or Light at the End or Collision Course did (which, to be fair, was what those stories were meant to do as anniversary releases). This was a great little adventure that didn't overstay its welcome. Kudos to the cast and technical wizards for creating a sense of chemistry (especially between Baker and Tennant!) despite remote recording.
Only disappointment is that the series is essentially a Tenth Doctor audio annual for the next two years (we'll have had FOUR Ninth Doctor boxsets by the time it's done).

I don't know that that's a big issue / comparison. The four Eccleston sets will come out to 12 stories. Not counting cameos, we've already got 10 Tennant stories (3x3 10DA, 1x Out of Time). By the time Out of Time is done we'll have another six Tennant stories out there at least (2x Out of Time, 1x Time Lord Victorious, 3x Ten/River), and I would not be hugely surprised if we get at least one more 10DA set in the next year or two as well.

There's definitely more Tennant stuff recorded in lockdown not yet officially announced. How much more we don't know.

I can’t remember the last time I listened to the same adventure twice in a day but Out of Time was so much fun I had to. I’m really struck by just how good Tom sounds. I agree with David, Make these 10 team-ups an event, not something they pump out over the course of a few months. We have at least four 10th Doctor adventures coming out over the next few months, let’s savor those and let anticipation grow for the next multi-Doctor story.

Oh, I didn't mean it as a comparison to number of stories. I just meant the time we have to wait between the Out of Time stories' announcement and release. Tennant sounded both humbled and thrilled to be "invited" to return to BF (his choice of words on the interviews), so I'm happy to see so many stories in other Tenth Doctor "ranges" on the way.

This first Out of Time release was jolly good fun... I loved it! It pretty much does what it says on the tin. I'd say this will become one of those feel good stories that I return to when I need escapism or just cheering up. Maybe it's not a classic Doctor Who story as such, but it gets an easy 5/5 from me just for the sheer unadulterated fun value.

Well, given the consequent number of episodes Tennant has been recording during lockdown, I'd say that if he wasn't one of the busiest actors in the UK, we'd have him at BF as frequently as Davison, the Bakers, McCoy and McGann. He truly loves doing this it seems.

Multi-Doctor stories are always a bit of a mixed bag for me, The Three Doctors & Day of the Doctor are excellent but The Two Doctors is awful & The Five Doctors isn't a great story but fun seeing them interact. So when it comes to new multi-Doctor stories I'm unsure if they will work but Out of Time is great fun. Its a simple story that works because it allows the main event, the meeting of the two most iconic Doctors of all time, to rightly take centre stage. The repartee between them is brilliant, Matt Fitton really captures the essence of each Doctor. This is the audio equivalent of comfort food & one I will listen to multiple times.
As for the next adventures in this series, not that excited about it being 10 again meeting other Doctors, I would have preferred it to be all new different pairings. One day this may happen once more modern Who Doctors join BF. Even though I'm not a fan of 12 I think having him meet 5 would be an interesting idea, given their respective personalities. & 13 & 3 would be great!

This is exactly as ordered.
A multi-Doctor romp, with both incarnations on fine form, and the Daleks at their villainous best. It’s not the greatest Who story ever, and it’s not trying to be. Some nice contrasts are drawn between the Doctors and the side characters are relatively well sketched out, considering they’re clearly not a priority here.
As for the future releases, I won’t be rushing to order them, as if nothing else I worry the novelty might wear off, but their release dates are so far away anyway.

I had a wonderful time listening to this. It's a lot of fun, the running time flies by and there's plenty of substantial Doctor interaction.
I think everyone's hit the nail on the head by saying the story itself isn't an all time classic, but I do think it's actually pretty well crafted in its simplicity, rather than trying to have a plot shine but overshadowed by the two Doctors: the Daleks aren't doing something high concept, they're just invading the Cathedral as part of the overall war they're raging. On the subject of Daleks, I love Nick Briggs' Supreme Dalek, he's so bass heavy and bonkers, barking orders out and demanding explanations!
I think the supporting characters each get their own moments or arcs and I think they're more substantial than what the DWM review made them out to be. I'd like to hear more from The Cathedral of Contemplation in the future, it's such an intriguing concept and it sounds like the Doctor has a long history with it.
The two leads and the lines they're given are brilliant. I think Tom Baker has become a little more Tom-esque in his remote recordings than the Doctor, which I did mention when Shadow of the Sun was released, but it's a joy to hear these two giants of Who interact that I can forgive it. I liked that they were both given material suited for their Doctors; sometimes these multi-Doctor affairs can be rather generic. I was interested that the original announcement placed emphasis that the two Doctors are at specific periods of their lives and I was pleased that the story utilised that. Indeed, I'd have been interested for them to clash a little more had the story been longer.
As others have said, I think this will become a comfort listen in the future and I'm really glad it's happened.

Well, I gave the first Out of Time release full marks. Why? One simple reason- it does what it tried to achieve near to perfection. Is it a perfect, deep, emotional story? No. And it does not want to be. All it wants to be is a fun romp with some beloved characters and villains. And it succeeds- it is fun. I enjoyed myself. I was cheered up. Plus, you can hear how much fun the actors had doing this, with some fantastic performances. This is a lovely cheer-up love-letter from BF in lockdown to the fans.

I'm going against the grain here..I think it was a great Doctor Who story. The Daleks doing what the Daleks do in a fascinating location that puts ordinary people at risk. That's the best Doctor Who. Small stories where he/she needs to save ordinary people. So it wasn't Universe shattering, (although if the Daleks has control of the Cathedral it would have horrible consequences for the universe) but enough that it allowed our Doctors to shine. And shine they did! My two absolute favorite Doctors doing what they do best. The energy and spark these two had together was amazing. I was grinning from ear to ear the entire time. And unlike many of you, I'm stoked that it's 10 teaming up with 5 and 6 in the future releases. I am a huge fan, and he always delivers.
I also would like to see more of the Cathedral of Contemplation. There is a lot of promise in that idea. 5 stars for me!
