Funny to read the OP now. Did anyone reply to the original question in the thread.
Here's my twopenniesworth:
It has been established that post Children of Earth Jack tends to come and go, so I don't see a problem with the character disappearing from the narrative.
I think the character of Rex is out due to rights issues and actor availability issues
Yvonne Hartmann / Tracey Oberman is more than strong enough to carry series 7 as the lead without Jack, with Mr Colchester as the no 2. Maybe bring back Gwen if Eve is available?
Based on how close Gareth David-Lloyd and Eve Myles are with JB, not to mention Gareth's public support, I think it's possible one or both of them will be wary about working with Big Finish again until JB is reinstated. I can certainly see Gareth going public about not working with Big Finish if he chooses, whereas Eve can just be too busy to reprise Gwen. Yvonne is the obvious choice for Torchwood leader and Tracy-Ann's availability makes her the ideal candidate for a leading role, assuming she doesn't go overboard with the TERF views like Dr*yfus did. Imagine James Goss is on his third page-one rewrite of series 7 and then she goes full Glinner.

In fact it is quite telling how few of his co-stars have decided to rush to his defense.

We’re not exactly privy to what their views on the whole debacle are, after all.

But I think she's still happy to return for one-off monthly range stories when her schedule permits. As for Jimmy D, I dunno, he's everywhere! Genuinely wouldn't surprise me if he trawls forums looking for people to add to start arguments with.

We're never going to get Absent Friends, are we? I think we will get it at some point, the only question is when. I think it will depend on Barrowman's career generally (Dancing on Ice, etc.) and the degree to which he is regarded or not regarded as person non grata. I'm assuming it will ultimately be the Beeb's decision, not BF's.
Worst case scenario - it may be long after everyone involved and affected is dead, but it will come out eventually.
I hope it's before I'm dead!

I'm sure everyone here can think of some more... colourful words that could be used instead.

Blimey. The plot thickens. The full subtitle of the article is 'ITV bosses have reportedly decided to give John Barrowman another chance after he was dogged by a flashing scandal and will make him host of All Star Musicals', but it amused me to leave out the last few words. That's the kind of mind I have!

Maybe there is hope for the release of Absent Friends after all The thing is, they have to do something with it eventually. Otherwise it’s just a massive waste of time and effort for all those involved and more importantly a waste of money! It’s also one of those things where it’s almost guaranteed to be a good seller but they can’t release it for fear of a backlash. Not quite sure whether that counts as a Catch-22 situation but it’s a rum business and no mistake.

Not quite sure whether that counts as a Catch-22 situation but it’s a rum business and no mistake. The resistance to this being released seems to come from those who wouldn't have bought it anyway, it seems to me. For others, I wonder if the controversy would actually boost sales to an already potentially popular release. The downside to that would be that, by delaying the release and then (presumably) promoting it, BF would then be accused somehow of celebrating John's off-camera antics - but then, whatever you do, whatever you don't do, someone somewhere will criticise. It's a tricky one.

Who's going to tell JHD 🥶😨😨 It was never in doubt that this sick individual would still have some kind of career, but as for Doctor Who. I cannot see him ever coming back. EVER!

That I did not expect (for this Series at least) But again that's another indicator that somethings going on with DW/BBC that they can't take the risk of even a hint of questionable behavior anymore. Regards mark687

Regards mark687 The BBC are rocked with scandal of their own making - the Martin Bashir revelations are pretty damning, I think - I don't think they dare risk it. I personally think Barrowman is something of a scapegoat for this, and of course, this leans into Big Finish productions as they are answerable to the BBC. If he has a career on ITV, then I'm quite happy about that personally. As long as he keeps the old feller in check!

Regards mark687 Is it? To mean it seems more that they don't want a pervert working on the show.
