A James Bond comic of all things called Permission to Die. I like Mike Grell's approach, there's a pretty healthy mix of everything from the novels to the films with some lovely subtle moments thrown in for good measure. Moneypenny teasing that Bond looks like a vampire put me straight in the mind of this as Timothy Dalton's third film and honestly it would've been a nice way to break in the 1990s. Maybe with Richard Donner directing, who knows?

I haven't been able to grab a copy of them anywhere yet, but from what I've read the man has certainly done his research. It'll be interesting to see what Fleming's Bond looks like in this day and age.

Graphic Novels:
Habitat - set in an interesting world/space ship of tech mixed in with nature taking over, and tribes trapped on this vast floating ship fighting for supremacy. Didnt fully understand it but hey. 7 out of 10.
East of West 1 - Death (as in the big bad boss) as an avenging cowboy, 3 of the 4 horsemen of the appocalypse on his tail, a great modern setting with spaghetti western elements...not to mention a yet not fully explained prophecy. Very good indeed 9 out of 10.
Sanctum - the USS Nebraska follows a distress beacon to the bottom of a deep ocean trench, only to find a WW2 Russian sub...oh and a vast subterranean temple to the Umit god of death. Only just started on this one but i like the premise so far

X-Men Prime is released today!!!
Marvel also released this trailer a few weeks back with a VERY farmaliar theme tune....
Also, is anyone excited about Monsters Unleashed regular series? The Marvel Universe needs more non-legacy characters

Also, I know I might be in the minority here, but I actually don't mind renumbering all that much. If it makes a series accessiable to casual or new readers, then I'm all for it. I wouldn't actually mind if comics took a TV season approach, either.

There are quite a lot of us here who know our comic history so well, thus I don't think it's an exaggeration to say Peter David is someone who has played a big role in the last 30 years. His Hulk work is probably the best run ever on the character. He's even written a Short Trip for BF. Well, he needs help financially. I know the mods don't love fundraising links being posted but if you google his homepage you'll find his details in 2 seconds. He's had issues with the IRS for years and when he was getting on top of things a few years ago, he had a bad stroke and a diabetes diagnosis which, as Americans will know, can cost a lot in treatment. He's asking for help and if his work has meant something to you, and you can spare it, maybe think about it.

Modesty Blaise collected graphic novels. Titan have released loads, and the latest 'Children of Lucifer' is the penultimate one. Wonderful series.
Also, 2000ad. After a break of many years, I've taken a month's sub. Still great fun. 40 years since issue 1? Don't make me larf! Seems like yesterday.

PLUS, if you haven't read Savage, the sequel to Invasion from the early days of the comic...do yourself a favour and get it. I'd love to see it filmed.

That's been collected into a graphic novel, hasn't it? I might well do that. Other 2000ad graphic novels I wholeheartedly recommend - Button Man, Halo Jones, Harlem Heroes (or more impressively, Inferno!), Cradlegrave and finally, Blackhawk. Blackhawk started as a historical story in Tornado comic, and got upgraded to space adventurer on its merger with 2000ad. It's my favourite story ever - great characters, lots of humour amidst the darkness, and a brilliant showcase for some of the best Belladinelli art I ever saw. A brilliant, trippy, extravagant comic strip!
