Few options come to mind already. If Jinx Monsoon has been hired for their full range...maybe a musical ep with dancing is a-coming? OR, given the regency setting, there could be a ball. Casting two Strictly dancers implies they needed the BEST not just some actors with dancing on their CV. But also doing just a day on set means it won't be much time on screen at all, probably moments.

As much as it would annoy some people in Ian Levine's groups that would go nuts, annoying them would be great fun but way behind what's best for the show. I'd be all for an ep where the current Doc gets to revisit classic stories - especially with some of the wonderful HD work done by the RT. But sometime in the middle of a Doctor's run, or the end. RTD wants to make this the first of a LOT of reverential but accessible to modern audiences. I don't see sticking Ncuti in there does anything but take attention away from the new edit and colourisation and the Hartnell era kinda defeating the purpose. A Tales Of The TARDIS wraparound? Maybe...but even then since he's not had his intro yet, I don't think that's how to do it. Or that RTD would do so. It would be dated again the minute Ncuti leaves again taking away the timeless concept totally. An alternate but accurate way to view the classic era is what the DWM article talked about. For many reasons, I'm sure as can be it's An Adventure In Space And Time. It's been rumoured for weeks that the repeat of An Adventure would have Ncuti, it wouldn't need any canon-work arounds, it would be a wordless scene that could be shot in minutes on any set they've used, it'd be more new surprise content for the 60th itself (it's airing on the 23rd), and most convincingly Mark Gatiss said the greenscreen was done so they could change the Doctor for future airings if wanted. But absolutely - something that was an actual episode akin to Trials And Tribbleations - or in Who terms, Clara being inserted into some classics for Name Of The Doctor, would be terrific fun. Just...at the right time, and not at the expense of better ideas like the new Daleks edit and colourisation for a modern or casual audience. I'm just not sure. If it airs on 23rd, why would you put Gatwa in it. He isn't the Doctor yet and casual viewers (if there are any such things) would be confused. If they were holding it back till after the specials, I'd definitely believe it. Also, Gatwa has shot a lot of stuff now. A scene with Hartnell would probably be for use at Christmas or some time next year in S14. I can't see it being connected to the anniversary in any way. One way or the other, I hope we find out tomorrow! Since Ncuti is filming his second run, if it isn't for either one, we may not see the fruits for the best part of two years! So...Ncuti added into An Adventure In Space And Time, Ncuti in the Daleks re-edit, Hartnell anytime between now and 2025...could be a wait!

It's been speculated Matt's green screen appearance in An Adventure In Space And Time would be replaced with David or Ncuti for the repeat on the 23rd, so it'll be that one would think. Right you were

Right you were Can't take much credit given Mark said it was always done with green screen for that purpose! If there's a time to change it, anniversary season when there's a new era starting up seems right. So the pieces were there. Then Ncuti's words added to it, albeit clunkily as we discussed upthread.

I hope Ncuti’s wink makes it into the title sequence!

He's simultaneously warm and cool! I think we're in very safe hands.
(And they fixed the compositing gaff too!)

I hope Ncuti’s wink makes it into the title sequence! As long as they don't decide to paint his face metallic to go with it!

When that came on, and we'd already had a discussion about the new version of The Daleks...it did kinda ram home what elkawho was saying about people overseas not feeling quite as, or at all, involved in these wonderful extra cirricular 60th celebrations. Of course as we covered there - and RTD reminded people on Insta - these projects are not Disney and are funded from the UK public's licence fee. But still...would be nice if all of our international friends could have joined in with these, or Tales Of The TARDIS and the likes, all things being equal. Having it all spoiled then piecing it together on YT isn't quite the same, I should think.

It's being reported by Nicola Methven who has been correct in the past so I'm leaning more to believing this leak.

If Methven is right... well, I can say this is not one I had thought coming. Especially as one of the first.

Russell did say he was pleased that one of the first spin-offs doesn't even seem to be rumoured (so not UNIT or Ace) - this would certainly fit. We've waited since their first appearance for a good Sea Devils story. We've had one of Davison's worst and a damp squib with Jodie's era bringing them back. Maybe a mini-series out of the main show would do it.

Can't say a Spin off with the Sea Devils interests me much.
Monsters are great but I hope any spin offs prioritise character before spectacle.

Weird choice. But no please no "His ambitions sit well with the Disney vision of an expanded universe of overlapping characters and timeframes." Don't turn Dr Who into Marvel or Star Wars where we have to watch every show to understand whats going on.

Don't turn Dr Who into Marvel or Star Wars where we have to watch every show to understand whats going on. To be fair, RTD1 was doing MCU stuff before the MCU even existed. There were references between DW, SJA and Torchwood and The Stolen Earth/Journey’s End was like the Doctor Who version of Infinity War/Endgame.
