The wilderness years of The X-Files are over for now. Mulder and Scully have returned to television for a 6 episode miniseries! - My Struggle (Jan 24)
- Founder's Mutation (Jan 25)
- Mulder and Scully Meet the Were Monster (Feb 1)
- Home Again (Feb 8)
- Babylon (Feb 15)
- My Struggle II (Feb 22)
An intended discussion thread for predictions and episode analysis regarding the 2016 miniseries of The X-Files. The new X-Files episodes won't be shown until February on Channel 5 in the UK, so use *spoiler tags* on any major revelations.

I was hyped for this though the reviews have been quite savage. Not just bad, horrendous.
I'm hoping they're wrong. I'd hope Carter has learned from both the flop finale and the atrocious I Want To Believe.

Admirably quite often, David is my entertainment news bearer. Looking back, there are some lovely members within the old forum that I dearly miss within this new forum. I even miss johnhurtdoctor; he doesn't beat around the bush, you always clearly know where he stands.

I kinda miss him too - Captain Grumpy. You once told him that if anyone knows about being rude, it would be him.

I have no recollection of that haha! Sounds like I was being rude too! To be fair - he did often show signs that he wasn't happy unless others were miserable. Could really bring the mood down.

So, it's finally come back. I've been binging on season 1 of the X-Files in preparation for tonight's airing of the new limited series. I thought it was really well done. It was great to see and I'm really looking forward to the rest of this run of episodes.
Duchovney and Anderson still had great chemistry together. Joel McHale was kind of insidious and creepy, though.
What did you guys think?

Prior thread within the Other TV Shows section of this forum. Missed the last 20 minutes of tonight's episode due to it being preempted by the NFL game, so I will have to comment about it tomorrow!

The wife tried to watch it last night but angrily reported that whatever channel it was kept post-game (I don't know which game) commentary going for over a half hour into the timeslot and she gave up.
This was northeast US.
(I never really got all that much into the original run. I watched it sometimes, sometimes didn't.)
Have to wonder if it's another one of those shows that BF could improve....

I heard this...I really hope this didn't screw up my recording. Ugh! Anyways X-Files with David & Gillian would be my dream Big Finish license. I doubt that would be an easy license to get though even if by chance D & G were willing. Fox won't even give up the license to the Doctor Who movie characters and X-Files has to bring them in way more money. But I think X-Files would be amazing on audio.

Be glad you aren't in the US. The morons at Fox network premempted the premiere with post-game football interviews (the dumb American version)
I DVRed the first ep but half of it will be cut off because it's 30 mins of football instead. Looks like I have to buy the first ep off iTunes instead.
Edit: okay it is available free on demand but you can't fast forward through commercials. Grrrr!

I've been burned enough by post-game shows, so I finally got smart and set my DVR to record for an extra 30 min.

the reviews have been quite savage. Not just bad, horrendous. OK, I've adjusted my expectations to be realistic. I have reminded myself that the show is not in its heyday anymore and to treat every additional episode as a bonus. If this perhaps out of its prime new X-Files is the similar quality as to Red Dwarf: Series X (preferably not series 9 though) and Torchwood: Miracle Day, I'll be very appreciative.

WHY DOES AUSTRALIA HAVE TO WAIT AN EXTRA WEEK FOR THIS? Sorry everyone, I needed to get that out. Considering that we live in a global world here, it is a tough pill to swallow when we have to wait additional time to view our favourite programs due to living in a different geographical market. I went through a similar impasse with series 2-4 of new Doctor Who on CBC, it would air 4-5 months after the original air date. After being fed up with the extra months of delay, I eventually resorted to circumvention means. It wasn't until series 5 when the Space channel took over its broadcasting rights in Canada that the air dates went to par with the UK dates.
