The 6th episode was a joke. Chris Carter proving once again that he's the George Lucas of television. He's had 3 chances to do a "this could be the last X-Files" story now in Series 9, I Want To Believe and this series and they've all been rotten. Also, it felt like they ran out of money here. There was no sense of this great global pandemic at all. On a somewhat related note: After thinking so highly of the original Doctor Who series, you sound like I did after *initially* viewing its new series - shell-shocked.

"He needs stem cells in him right now"... S10E06: My Struggle IIAfter viewing some of the associated comments posted on this thread, I was expecting to be licking my wounds after seeing this episode. Gosh darn it, I really enjoyed that cliffhanger! Mission accomplished by its producers, I so badly now want to see a season 11 of The X-Files. A 7/10 score for it being an effective finale with a most possible future. My top 3 season 10 episode picks: - Mulder and Scully Meet the Were-Monster
- Babylon
- My Struggle II
Question: Who thinks Sveta survived from being blown up within her car?

There was no sense of this great global pandemic at all. To be fair, my expectations weren't that they were going to wrap everything up in a neat bow and send the show on its Viking funeral. 2012 has passed and there's been no cataclysmic invasion like the one we saw in "The Sixth Extinction". Don't forget, this is Chris Carter we're talking about; the closest I think this series has ever come to closure is "Two Fathers" / "One Son". The myth arc hasn't had substance since Season 4, so I wasn't too bothered by the fact that it seemed to go nowhere (haven't seen "My Struggle II" yet). The emotional angle of Mulder and Scully's son was rather well-handled, the Trashman almost reaching the likes of Tooms, Pusher and the Flukeman for interesting villains, and the show attempting to address some of contemporary America's cultural touchstones (such as domestic terrorism, mass surveillance and 9/11's lasting societal effects) was extremely well-handled. I thought it was all rather fun.

I always enjoyed the X-Files in the past - however having watched this run of six episodes and in particularly the last episode, I feel like I've wasted six hours of my life! What a disappointment the finale was...

I just watched the first 3 episodes of the new X-Files, and those three has in my view encompassed the worst and the best the X-Files offer.
Episode 1 is so heavy in the alien story arc, whilst at the same time trying so hard to retcon the shows history, it was just dire in my view and appears to be setting up the series for a long trudge through an unbearable alien abduction arc.
Episode 2 Is somewhat better, but far from the best the X-file has to offer, it continues where the first episode left off, but at least somethings happen and there's a story of sorts.
Episode 3 is just great, it had me grinning from ear to ear with a few moments of outright laughter, it's a fun story and a different take on the monster hunter story, whilst it's very different in feel, the experimentation with the genre made me with of X-Cops episode of old.
So, I will be watching more, I nearly gave up when the credits rolled for episode 1, but glad I reached episode 3, if it hadn't been for that I wouldn't be watching more, hopefully there are more fun, engaging stories that befit the X-files, and not too much trudge through the alien abductions, conspiracy theory garbage.

Who thinks Sveta survived from being blown up within her car? I've always thought that was a possibility. Just watched episode 6. What???!!! There better be more!

Who thinks Sveta survived from being blown up within her car? I've always thought that was a possibility. It seemed that she was at least starting to get her car door open while the explosion took place. We'll probably be seeing Sveta again with *even more* holes in her when the time comes! From what we have briefly seen, it's not an easy life being Sveta.

So, did everyone get that the overarching theme of the series was mothers and their children? I haven't seen anyone talk about it but it does seem a little heavy handed at times.

And what do you think the significance of that is, elkawho? Inquiring minds want to know.

Is it just me or do all these conspiracy theories just sound loony now not intriguing lol. I mean alien DNA in small pox vaccines. Sounds almost as wacky as all the anti-vaccers thinking vaccines cause Autism I mean I love Scully & Mulder and the chemistry is still strong. Episode 3 was excellent. But I kind of disagree that X-Files and conspiracy theories are more relevant today. Watching this last episode it almost seems the opposite. Edit: Watching this ep all I could think was Big Finish did something similar better in Survivors. Though I am not really bothered by the Cliffhanger ending. Im convinced they knew there was going to be more. I dont really care about the conspiracy storyline but if it means more Scully & Mulder and more MOTW eps I am all for that.

They were loony then and they are loony now.

They were loony then and they are loony now. Maybe so but the 90's were a simpler time. Conspiracy theories were more contained because the Internet wasn't what it is now. It almost seems like Scully & Mulder are on the wrong side now.

Talking about the X-Files and conspiracies...does anyone remember the Lone Gunmen episode where they had to stop an airplane from being flown into the World Trade Center?

Just watched Episode 4 - Home Again.
I just have one question about the Trashman. Was it possibly intended to be a Golem?

Okay 5+ weeks later, I finally get around to watching the final two episodes. I had a hard time with the series after the scenes with Scully and her mother in episode 4 (my mother passed away a couple of years ago) and decided to hold off on watching the rest. I didn't think Babylon was bad, it wasn't great but it was fine. The finale... Wow, I'm actually glad they ended it on a cliffhanger. I like cliffhangers, and there's been at least a couple of BF 4DAs where I felt they were wrapped up way too fast and a cliffhanger for another month would have been better. Now, I only just finished watching it a few minutes ago, and probably nit-picks regarding how it ignored parts of established XF canon will come up for me once I let it digest. Outside that, one thing {Spoiler}that bugged me a little bit, was that Mulder seemed willing to accept help from Scully at the end, when he had to know that all she could be offering was a variant on the same thing that he'd totally rejected from CSM earlier.

my opinions episode 1 - restarting the conspiracy/alien abduction sroty line which went on too long and got too complicated episode 2 - better but hasn't lingered in my memory episode 3 - the best of the season episode 4 - some great scenes but not enough of a story to it. plot summary: A monster kills a few unsympathetic people. The only reason Mulder and Scully are there is so the characters explaining the plot have someone to talk to. episode 5 - huh ? wha? episode 6 to be continued
