I'm hugely looking forward to the 11th Doctor on audio, but I agree that we should wait a little longer. For me it's not because of the nostalgia factor, but I also don't want too much goodness all at once. I'd rather savor it over the next couple of years. Let's hear 10 first.

I'm not a fan of the Eleventh Doctor (in fact I think he's one of the few Doctors who never came up against a serious challenge that pushed his limits), but I'd be very interested in seeing a few releases set out for him at some point in the future. I still think after all these years has yet to find his little niche to settle into, so he's an incarnation whom I'd like to see under another writer's pen (or key) with some original companions. We didn't really get to see much of him after all, there are vast tracts of undiscovered country out there just waiting to be exploited.

I'll think they'll test the water with the Tenth Doctor audios first but hey we're Doctor Who fans & while the Eleventh isn't my favourite Doctor, I'll still buy them.
Maybe Big Finish writers can inject more darkness into Matt's Doctor which i sensed was there but never really unleashed.

Yeah, I'm certainly enthusiastic about the idea, but I don't think B.F should drop all the New Who releases on us at once, I think they should play things slow and safe for the next couple of years to help new listeners, and part of me is inclined to think there should be a gentleman's agreement between the Doctors i.e the prior actor shouldn't do Big Finish until the current Doctor has matched his TV output or left the role.

Excellent point made, completely agree. That is fair comment but BF are a business and to survive they have to get more and more customers. If they can get lots of early revenue (i.e. Preorders), that will only help them continue as a business and produce the excellent audios they already produce. I think the main thing people are forgetting though is Matt has only said he would consider it (if/when asked) ... no ********** have been mentioned, no release dates have been made, in fact there have been no announcement from BF about it . Even if it was announced at Gallifrey 1, I wouldn't expect them to be released for at least a year and possibly longer but just knowing newer doctors are onboard would be great news . Cheers Tony

I'm sure they may wait until other series are finished first as well. Because if they stop doing some at whatever point for whatever reasons, then they may slot him in then, after getting a final YAY!!!! from Smith

hell I would buy 11th doc in a flash (even though he is possibly my least favourite doc, I think Capaldi just edged forward in last series)
my only wish he was given a new companion, I hate the ponds, Clara had enough & river steals the show.

I guess all this new content being available to BF is as much a problem as it is an opportunity, it's clear many people are at or beyond saturation point (at least in the current pricing models) and BF also have limited resources. Obviously both those things either diminish or go away if adding the new content also adds new customers, but you can understand why BF might need a little while to digest all the possibilities that the new content allows. BF may like being a smaller company, but in order to keep up with demand, it may be time for them to do some major hiring, and build more studios, or miss the boat and lose the ride in the future. but going too big could sink the boat

While it will probably be a while yet before we do see any Eleventh Doctor audio dramas, I am very happy to see that Matt is all for it.

While I am not a huge fan of most of Matt Smith's stories, I think he was incredibly good in the role. I've heard it said that his portrayal was more consistent across his run than any other, and I tend to agree with that statement. Although, it must be said that Tom Baker is still *my* Doctor, and I'm a huge Tennant fan (Doctor or otherwise).
I just wonder how much of Matt Smith's performance will come across in audio, when we can't see the subtlety of his facial expressions, or his hands flapping about.
If we get just one box set per year, the way the Early Years are now being done, it would be a great start for BF.

I hope Big Finish contacted him as soon as he said that and contracted him for audio dramas because 11th Doctor Adventures would be great fun to listen to. A lot of capacity for new companions too, although I would like to hear Karen Gillan and Arthur Darvill return in the first release.

I think after that, that BF would pretty much have to contact him, but I would hope that they take things at the pace they believe to be right for them as a company, so the contact with Matt might be not much more than courtesy to say we are thinking of you, will contact you later when we have a proposal.

To jump through mental hoops.
It is possible he was contacted and signed for a boxset. But because it hasn't been announced, as to not over shadow any other new release *cough10coughwarcough*. So when asked, he lied about being contacted all, incase he thought saying he had been contacted would give too much away, or that he didn't want to say he turned down returning to the Doctor.
Secondary thought. Has anyone asked Eccelston, or BF for that matter, if he has been reached out to.

Point 1 I think it's more then likely "something" has been said, he even sounded more enthusiastic than DT at the prospect
Point 2 Eccelston was approached with a view to doing something in the BF Classics Range but BF didn't have anything near ready and the idea ended quickly.

I would think that at the very least feelers for Matt Smith and Christopher Eccelston have been sent out for their willingness. If there is an 11th coming, I don't think we'd hear about it until the 10th doctor release anyway.
And for point 2, is that a recent or old thing? (source? curious) and if that's true then Eccelston seems at least open to the idea, BF just need a story for him.

point 2 Source In 05/05 Barnaby Edwards BF Actor, Writer, Director, TV Series Dalek operator, Original producer of The Classic Range (Phantom of the Opera) told CE that BF did classic play and book adaptations as well as DW, CE said No to DW but was open to a Classics Adaption but it never went further then that. Then the TV negations with CE for 50th Anniversary didn't go well...
