I do agree that it would be helpful to know why CE might still be refuse to reprise the role, but it's much more helpful to concentrate on that, than it is the concentrate on the past.

I was at Gallifrey One and had the opportunity to ask Jason from Big Finish about Matt Smith. All he would do was smile about the topic. I did ask when we would see Jenna Coleman in "The Adventures of Clara Oswald". The group I was with was very enthusiastic about that. Jason said it was a good idea.

And don't forget how often 'we have no plans' or 'wouldn't that be something' translate to actual plans or pleasant surprises, Smith will definitely do them, it's just a matter of when...

Hopefully with Karen Gillan and Arthur Darvill. I'd think we'll have to wait for awhile. I'd imagine Karen Gillen is probably making the best of her Guardians of The Galaxy exposure at the moment and Arthur Darvill is currently on a very popular TV spin off at the moment - I'd imagine they will probably want to continue to distance themselves from Doctor Who.

I think Arthur Darvill would want to distance himself from Rory for a while and show that he can play other roles. Cheers Tony

Especially at the beck and call of a licensed audio company that a tiny percentage of TV show fans have even slight interest in.

It's like being annoyed that the Olsen Twins don't want to do Fuller House, despite both having given up acting for other career choices, based fully on Fan expectation and that "They got their career because of it".

But putting doctor who audios first isn't going to pay the bills. turning down a major holywood production for a potentially 7 figure sum to do big finish for a fraction of that would be a daft thing to turn down.

I don't think anyone's suggested that they do that. Big Finish is relatively easy to squeeze in between other commitments if you have a bit of time spare. Arthur Darvill probably hasn't at present but I'm not sure what Karen and Matt's production slates look like for the coming year (and there are plenty of Rory free gaps). The point being made I think was more that they may feel that by doimg Doctor who on audio so soon after leavin the show, they are sending a subconscious signal "my career's washed up so I'm returning to what made me famous to begin with". Probably the only thing worse they could do about now would be appear on "I'm a celebrity......" Their agents could well be strongly advising against. Tennant is in a stronger position. It's longer since he left and he has just done a very successful netflix series so doing these audios will not even be noticed.

I'd say the first series of 11th Doctor adventures (released like the 10th Doctor ones are being released), should involve him in the many adventures, where he's alone. Each story has a different companion as it where

Karen Gillan was just announced as appearing at Shore Leave on July 16. Someone will have to ask her what her feelings are about this. As far as Arthur Darvill, his character on Legends of Tomorrow is a renegade time traveler. This role isn't making a big break from Doctor Who. I'm sure he will have time between seasons, but when Big Finish can get the logistics together is another question.

Probably the only thing worse they could do about now would be appear on "I'm a celebrity......" Their agents could well be strongly advising against. That's a really good point, actually. While it's pretty true that Big Finish audios aren't too difficult to squeeze onto a schedule when you have down time, turning to them too soon could send a pretty negative message... I don't want Matt Smith to potentially turn his back on what could be a long and fruitful career on television just because an admittedly niche market of fans want him to come back in audio dramas. I love the Eleventh Doctor, he's one of my favorite televised portrayals of the Doctor, but I'd say give it one or two more years at the very least.
