are we not getting worked up over nothing, form the bits and bobs i have heard read it seems that the monthly range will be available to buy... 6 month, 12 month and soon as a 3 release box set (as in all episodes at once box set, not an actual box) to cover a single doctors trilogy (which is the 3 month sub that everyone wanted)as well as individually which is where i think where there will be a price rise. they will be able to promote each doctors trilogy, unlike now where its either a "scary subscription" or dip your toe single release. the only thing i can see happening is that the 13 releases a year may go as they have extended the licence now and could shift things up a few months. you will still get the extras, pdf's & short trips to go with all but individual releases. the free single release is there as a carrot to tempt you to by 12 months i don't see them doing away with that. they are experimenting with the format which most of us are not that happy with, but the 4 parter is a tried and tested format that works for them they would be mad to change it for everything. You raise a good point on Subs. it would make sense do an option of a Sub per trilogy or 1 13 release Sub a year but that's obviously not what the thinking is.

If it's Nick's idea, sack him Jason! That's...... just a little extreme. For an anti-social guy who hears Dalek voices in his head saying Exterminate every time he goes around shops and has to deal with people, and also wants to lash posters who cause trouble on forums, I'd say I didn't go far enough! Box sets are Evil. If you tolerate them then your children will be next!

I would actually like if there are deals for getting trilogies. I prefer buying in 3's.

Given the huge back catalogue, and lessoning of the hand to mouth existence that BF have had for most of their life, letting people create their own "subscription" where they choose 13 releases of their choice and pay the sub price seems an effective way to reduce the fear factor, sure most would want to buy perhaps 2 or 3 of one Doctor at first, but then coming back, they may be tempted to invest more, and perhaps buy 10 of their favourite Doctor and 3 from other Doctors stories.

Though to be honest, that's her response to a lot of things. I like box sets, though, I do like having individual releases as well.

If BF did move towards boxsets for MR stories perhaps it would enable them to double up on some of the cast, potentially cutting costs and lowering prices a little. They already record 3 stories at once, which is why we get the trilogy releases, I can't see production costs fall because of boxsets. They don't necessarily record the three stories together. Sometimes there's been big gaps between recordings.

Which I would expect then, from what's Nicks said in the past in Podcasts is to do with actor availability, I can't see how boxsets would make this situation easier, indeed if they need continuity of supporting actors as well as principles I can only see the problems getting worse, not better.

Depends on the boxset content, surely. Yes, if it becomes one on-going story thoughout the boxset. Same as before if it's just the case that each main range trilogy gets released together in a box rather than separately monthly.
Sorry for calling you Shirley.

But that's my point recording boxsets it makes things no better than today, than when recording trilogies.

Cause one of em in my head sounds a hellova lot like Geoffrey Beavers.

BF's Long term Strategy? Nick Briggs to do everything It certainly seems that way... but it might also mean more Daleks, so we can let his ego off in that case!

Well looking on the website, you can preorder up to 262, or take out a sub for any release up to 251, also finishing with 262. This release is due in March 2020, so maybe that's when the change will happen.
