Where, exactly? In response to what? On his Question Day post. Here's the question and reply He also mentions that we may see a return of the David Banks style cybermen I'm not sure how I feel about the shift to box sets for the main range. I suppose financially it would make more sense in the long run, but I kind of enjoy knowing there's a new individual release each month. I know there's always a new box set each month, and I buy pretty much everything BF releases, I think Pathfinder is the only range I don't follow, but that monthly range release is a strange kind of comfort blanket.

Interesting, would they keep the 4x25 minute format and make the boxsets £40 releasing four a year, or switch to a 1x4 hour format for Dr's 5,6 and 7? and release 8 a year? Would the downloads still be released monthly? Hmm...

It makes sense and would bring 5-7 in line with 8 and the model for 4. Add in two third Doctor sets a year and you've got a boxset every month.

Hopefully they have it at a round number like 300 before they do it lol. I dont want the last MR release to be something like 287 lol

I think it's at the point where the posts about it need moving off to their own thread, yes. I actually think the change will happen when the supersubs expire.

mark687, I've moved all the relevant posts from the other thread. Apologies if it looks messy Cheers Tony

No... it's not to change the main range into box sets...
But to re cathouse the range... ie... 4th 5th 6th doctors etc...
It feels wrong but that's because I'm an old school gate keeper

I guess I won't mind as long as we continue to get the 2 hr stories broke up into 30 minute eps. I really like that format.
I also assume this change wouldn't happen after 2020. People are subscribed through then correct?

So long as the structure of two disc releases with normally 4x25 minute releases remains the same within the box set format then I'd be fine with it. I assume the plan is to release 6 disc box sets with 12x25 minute episodes.
Any change outside of that, I'd be dead set against. The 4x25 minute releases are the life blood of Big Finish for me.

So long as we keep the 4x25 minute stories, I think I'll be okay with the change in the long run.

I looked through his FB Q&A and there was another spot where he said that the existing main range would be collected together in box sets, but in that post he did not imply that the full range would shift to that format. It would be helpful to get further clarification from him as to whether it is just older releases will be repackaged in box sets to make things less daunting for new subscribers, or if it is that along with a full shift of the range to boxes over individual monthly releases.

Intention and reality aren't necessarily the same thing. I'd point out that in the most recent podcast, he said nothing about box sets when faced with the same question. Rather, his answer was that the Monthly Range would continue as-is for the benefit of long-termers, but generally be more promoted as 'individual Doctor ranges' to make it more appealing / less intimidating to new customers.
And let's also not forget that it wasn't long ago they offered a "super subscription" spanning a number of years to come. Based on that alone, there's only so much modification they can do.

I'm pretty thick. In fact, I might have been thick longer than some on this board have been alive! But I don't understand how splitting the main range into boxes will be implemented. Would we get a Fifth Doctor 3-story set in January, a Sixth Doctor in April and a Seventh Doctor in July instead of a 2-CD release every month?

That's how I'd see it too.
And I can't personally see that it need be problematic when it comes to supersubs. As long as they were getting the same amount of product, supersubscribers would still be getting what they paid for albeit packaged differently.
